@rollo -- Thanks for the idea! Your grandson's name is adorable -- but unfortunately, Cruz won't work for us because it's too strictly-Spanish. My MIL grew up in Spain under Franco. We're going to stick with either Catalan or not-Spanish.

@nat108 - Haha. My husband's reaction to the RM posts was, "they got the wrong Xavi!" (or Xabi). Pep is such a cute (and phonetic!) name, and Pep Guardiola has shown me that it can work on a grown man too. Though his looks probably help with that!

This has been really helpful. I think we're focusing on Xavi, Sandro and maybe Josep (nn Pep) for the boy now. I think the girl will probably be Tess. He doesn't like Helena. Marina and Dalia are still in the running too.

And in response to a prior post -- yes, we're in the U.S. New England.

@saracita00 - Pip is adorable. You've been an inspiration!

We'll think about this further, but this has really helped us narrow names down. Thanks, everyone.

I like the nn of Pepe for a son and it can be a nn for Joseph and its variants apparently. Why not go for Xavier nn of Xavi I think that is a great name?
