Alyson Hannigan and Alexis Denisof's new daughter ...

Alyson Hannigan (best known for playing Willow on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Lily on How I Met Your Mother) and her husband Alexis Denisof (best known for playing Wesley on both Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spin-off show Angel) have just had a second daughter.

They've named her Keeva Jane. Their older daughter is named Satyana Marie.

It's an interesting sibset, I think. If I recall correctly, Satyana was derived from a Sanskrit term but wasn't a traditional Sanskirt name (if anyone knows better please feel free to correct me). I believe that Keeva is an anglicization of the Irish name Caoimhe.

If I remember correctly Satyana's name came from the term Satya which means truth. I think they said that they added ana onto the end to make is sound more like an actual name, but I'm not positive. I think Keeva is a pretty name and goes well with Satyana, I just don't get how you get the pronounciation Keeva from Caoimhe, but I've never understood Irish names
Please pray for Lucy, her and her family need your support: http://erikandkatekrull.blogspot.com/

I read Keeva is a form of Caoimhe and means gentleness and beauty... both have wonderful meanings!

If they weren't going to use the original Irish spelling of Caoimhe (which is understandable because I have trouble remembering the order of the letters ), I think the best spelling would have been Kiva. Keeva just looks like a phonetic spelling to me.
    All the best,
    Mischa.

I do like their mix of unusual, exotic names with lovely meanings and very traditional middles. If they had two more girls they'd probably get Ann and Elizabeth. It gives them something simpler to fall back on if they decide they don't like the more unusual name.

Mmm, I love Alyson Hannigan but our naming styles really don't match. I never got used to Satyana and I don't like Keeva any better. They both give me the impression of creative spellings (though I realize that might not the case at all). And they don't match, in my opinion. Also, I'm quite familiar with a micro-organization called Kiva so that's my first association (but of course, I don't assume everyone knows about that).
