    Oh I love Sanya!

Similar in sound to a guity pleasure name of mine...Adanya or Danya.
I also love the whole Sonia/Sonja/Sonya family of names.
Definitely keeps a unique vibe while being totally self-explanatory in pronunciation.

    Yes, Sanya is really beautiful!
Mother of three teenagers: (1) Daniel Glen, (2) Timothy Austin, and (3) Rebecca Jane... all middle names honor family... 3rd generation mn Jane. (A second girl would have been Susanna Eve and a third boy, maybe Isaac...)

Your daughter is meant to have a name that you LOVE, so don't feel badly about changing it. Give her the name she was meant to have.

I say go for it. If anyone says anything negative about changing your minds just laugh it off and blame the hormones.
Your peaceful sweet daughter will appreciate the fact that you put so much thought and love into making sure she had a great name that her name suited. I say don't waste another day! Spend today calling her Sanya and see if it makes your heart sing- if it does change the name without delay.

I like the suggestion of Tamara because it is very similar ie has a similar look and sound but it is known by people. I think you will want a very feminine style name for your baby and I hope that we can help you find a pretty name that warms your heart. We can't have a sad mum.

    All the best,

    rollo

PS I just saw that you like Sanya which I presume is pronounced like Tanya and it is very pretty I can't imagine a pronunciation problem with this pretty choice. Follow your heart and please let us know what you settle upon.

Grandmother to Belle, Cruz, Blayz, Chloe and Xanthe

This -- all of it. It's definitely not too late; there is no ethical issue. You should be sure of her name. I seem to be the odd man out -- I actually really like Tamanna (I didn't at first, but the more I said it, the more I liked it, and finding out it was Sanskrit put me over the top). BUT I think most people will pronounce it wrong, and what really matters is not what we think, but what YOU and your spouse think. **Trust your instincts** That's good advice for any new mom and it covers this too.

Sanya is beautiful and I don't see how people could mispronounce it. I'm not sure I'd recommend Sanya Tamanna though ... too similar to me for a pairing.

Congrats on your baby girl! Good luck -- let us know what you decide.

I definitely prefer Sanya to Tamanna- is it pronounced Sahn-ya?

If you're not happy, I think you should change

i cant thank you all enough for the outpouring of support you all have given me. i badly needed it. It gave me strength to see that i can make a change without feeling the guilt i was feeling. my laptop crashed few days ago and i just couldnt get back here to respond, so now we decided to change, trying to choose between Tanya or Sanya. Maybe you all can give me one last push to decide. My spouse and i are from different religions. Maybe a small part of this problem is stemming from that. Or maybe i'm overreacting. My harmones are playing a number on me that i cant tell you what a roller coaster ride i'm ging thru.
