I've spent time thinking about it, and I may just end up using Jack now. I got excited when I heard it first, but with this much negative feedback I'm not too sure now. I can see the teasing potential, although you can tease really any name. I love the sound of "Jack-min", but I don't like the spelling of "Jackman". People will probably say it more "Jack mAn".

yeah, I read it as Jack-man. I think Jack is fine and not really, more normal names tend to avoid teasing. I was never teased for my name even though I have heard on here that people think Die Anna, although I only ever had one person point this out to me and it wasn't out of teasing, the just said it like they had an epiphany, lol. My fiance' was never teased with his name, Brendan, but he suffered being called Brandon (even by my mom!) and Brennan. I think the pn might be more of a problem with Jackman because I can't bring myself to say Jack-men, I keep reading it as Jack-man.

Maybe it's a regional thing, but Jackson is not preppy in my mind, and Jaxon is *certainly* not. I live in Australia, and these are kind of bogan (chav/lower class) names. The Jaxon I know has sisters called Madisyn and McKenzie.

I think Jackman will get 'What? Like Hugh Jackman?' his entire life. Annoying. And yes, it sounds as if you're trying for something super-masculine.
I'd just go for Jack.

I don't want to toot my own horn, but I've named my son Jackman,7mo now. I think its a lovely name, and yes many people automatically think of Hugh Jackman (but thats not a bad thing...I mean look at the guy!!). I think its a more masculine version of Jackson (a name I considered but thought it was over used and very common thesedays), plain Jack in my opinion just wasn't enough but can be used as a nickname of sorts and to pay respect to my late grandfather.

I am coming back to say. I really like Jackman and I prn. like you do. Don't let negative feedback tear you down from a name you love.
