    Advice needed for BOY name

    Hi everyone,

We are expecting our first child in Nov and in search of a name that wears well throughout a lifetime, strong, dignified & handsome
We are torn between classic, popular, and more uncommon names. Some names on our list now include:

    Jonathan
    Benjamin
    James
    Landon
    Michael

What do you think of these names? and what First Impressions do they give? Any advice or other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

From you list my favorite is James. I think it would be adorable on a little boy as well as a great name for an adult. It also has some sweet nn potential (Jem, Jim, Jay, etc) Personally I find Jonathan, Michael and Benjamin a bit boring, but perhaps that is because I grew up with so many of them. I also like Landon but it seems like it is on the rise so if you want something uncommon I would double check that one against the popularity lists where you live. Good luck!

All of the names on your list are absolutely wonderful. It's a tough choice. Perhaps you could narrow it down based on how each one sounds with your last name. How many syllables are in your surname? If you have a one-syllable surname, I'd go with a two- or three-syllable first name. If you have a two syllable surname, I'd choose a one- or three-syllable first name. If you have a three-syllable surname, then a one- or two syllable name would probably sound best.
Mother of three teenagers: (1) Daniel Glen, (2) Timothy Austin, and (3) Rebecca Jane... all middle names honor family... 3rd generation mn Jane. (A second girl would have been Susanna Eve and a third boy, maybe Isaac...)

I love Benjamin, it's been my favorite boys name for as long as I can remember.

Jonathan and James are also great solid names, though James feels more like a middle name to me.

Michael is a bit boring to me since I've known SOOOOO many.

Others in a similar vein: William, Thomas, Charles, Edward

    My recommendation is ...

Benjamin [and] Abigail [&] Samuel [and] Miriam

... a sibset comprised of equivalent Hebrew names.

    Or ...

Peter [and] Anna [&] James [and] Clara

... a sibset comprised of equivalent classic names.

    Or ...

    Jonathan David

... Hebrew first and middle names of Biblical best friends.
