No, I don't think so. If you call her Aurora and find a differnt nickname to call her by, such as Aura, Ari, Roro, Roo, Lights (as in the Northern Lights), then it'll be fine.

I love Aurora and I happen to love Rory, but that is obviously not the case here. I think it really is as simple as enforcing the fact that she is simply Aurora. I think Roo is a cute nickname as well. However, I know a few people who don't really have nicknames. I know two Elizabeths who only go by Elizabeth, not Lizzie, Libby, Beth, etc. I know an Eleanor who is simply Eleanor, a Jacqueline who is just Jacqueline, and these are 17-18 year olds. So, I don't think it's that big of an issue, as many others have also assured. Good luck

I grew up with an Aurora (I'm 27) and she always went by her full name. I don't even think anybody ever tried to give her a nickname. I don't think it's a definite at all that she'll be called Rory.
Switching careers and becoming an RN! Sadly mommy plans will have to wait until that's done. Still loving names though!

I love Aurora! As a few others have said, I think Aurora could be just Aurora. If it went better with my LN, I would probably use it, and I'd use the nn Ari. Roo is really cute, too, though!

Aurora won't automatically get Rory as a nickname (though Rory is awesome, imo). Some people may call her that, but ultimately, it's her choice what she wants to get called. If she tells people that she doesn't want to go by Rory, they most likely won't call her that. Aurora has multiple nickname possibilities ; Rory, Rora, and Auri (prn like Ari) and I'm sure if she just wants to go by Aurora, people won't hesitate to call her Aurora.

I don't think it is inevitable. If you call her Aurora other people will... at least when she is very young. She might someday decide she wants to be called Rory.

I like Aurora too, with no nickname. I only like Rory for boys and I agree, it is a completely different style than Aurora.. Using Rory as a nickname for it seems to be something I've only heard about in the past few years.

My name is Aurora, and I've always gone by the full name. My folks just aren't into nicknames, so the only times I've been called "Rory" are when my little siblings want to tease me. I have an acquaintance who was quite pleased with himself when he discovered that Aurora could be nicknamed Rory; he tried calling me "Rory" once, and I answered to it, but it totally didn't stick.
It's a lovely name (though I may be biased!) Best wishes!

I know a little Aurora who is only called Aurora. I personally like Rory- but it is nowhere near as pretty and feminine as Aurora. If you like Aurora just use that without a nn.

Just another thought: Aurelia or Oriana have the same meaning but won't risk the Rory nn.

Is there any better nns out there to replace it with?

Love, love Aurora. But bit to mouthfull and long. I would use nn Ora.

Aurora is italian name. It means dawn. Same meaning as Aurora would be another italian name Alba aslo means dawn.
