    For Mina they say:

"Most famous as a Dracula victim, Mina is an all-purpose name lacking much character."

I don't know if I totally agree, but I can see where they get that. I like names like Lita, Lena, and Mina that most people would want a full name for. Mina's full name in "Dracula" was Wilhelmina.

Mila is rising and Mia is already near the top. Mina might fit right in a full-sounding name soon. I like the suggestion of Milena too though!

I don't think many people now a days would get the reference though to Dracula. I actually never saw or read it, so I didn't know that fact!

Milena definitely gives you some flexibility w/ Lena, Mina, Mila, even Nina.

I say it Mee-lay-nuh, but you'll find some variation based on accent.

I actually knew the name from Dracula (the movie...I haven't read the book yet). I didn't know that her full name was Willhelmina though! I guess I just don't like that they put opinions under some names on the site. I do agree that I would want a longer name and use Mina as a nn.

I'm absolutely loving Eleanor nn Lena lately! I think Magdalena, Helena, and Elena are also great ways to get to it, although I've always heard those said with a LAY-nah ending so the nn pronounced LEE-nah isn't as intuitive to me. Lenora nn Lena is very sweet, as well!

As for Mina and Nina, I like Yasmina nn Mina (or Milena nn Mina) and Seraphina nn Nina.

    Good luck!
