They were sophomores in high school last year. They had the kindergarten and eighth grade graduations along with the sophomore recognition, since the school only goes up to tenth grade, and these were the names of those kids, as well:

I just read your second post - why don't you scan the birth announcements?

I did. I went through 25 pages of frowning and shaking my head before I gave up on them. Some are normal, just not for me... and some were definitely not names I would ever consider. I'd say I've spent about 15 hours over the last 2 weeks on this site looking for "the perfect name". Unfortunately most people here have such different taste than I do that it's not so easy to make a long list of names (never mind a condensed list).



From what I've read through so far, the names that popped out at me were:

Aria (Arianna) - Aria has ALWAYS been a fav. of mine... but the hubby instantly vetoed it when I brought it up when we were naming my daughter (now almost 2yo). Maybe Arianna will change that and then I can use Aria as a nick.

Julianna - I'm liking the -anna endings since my grandmother's name is Anna and she's the only relative I'm close to.

Mya/Maia/Maya - While I like this as a nickname, I wouldn't use it as a full. How can I get this nickname while avoiding "olde-style" names?

Alaina - I think this was on one of my many lists I've made over the years, not sure why I forgot it. Really like it though.

El(l)ian(n)a - Never considered this before, but I think it's pretty. Gonna play with it for a few days and see how I feel.


On someone's signature, I read Caspia listed as a Guilty Pleasure... and I kinda like it. Not sure if I like it enough to use it, but it's definitely something I'd consider. Not sure it matches my last name though. :/

(for those interested: the name I'm second guessing myself on is Alexa. I'd probably have Alexandra put on the birth certificate in case she wants to use it later on in life. I love it, but naming a human being feels like such a huge responsibility! I feel like no matter what I choose, it won't be good enough!)
