I don't like Brinley at all, sorry...Brynn would be much better. Yes, it's a Welsh boys' name, spelt Bryn, but if you must use a variant, Brynn is much nicer than Brinley.
Also, I'm genuinely curious about the concept of honouring people, and how far it can be stretched: if your sister's name is Leah, is she really going to feel as if 'Brinley' has anything to do with her name?

Not a fan--especially with the "y"--very trendy right now & will become very dated.

Ok well she has gone by Lee her whole life and that was going to be a nickname if we chose Brinley. She is pretty clever I figured she would get the connection and appreciate it. But how I choose to honer my sister has nothing to do with what I posted. Also I don't actually like Brinley. I like Brynn and I posted this because I wanted to prove to my husband that Brinley was everything I told him it was. And that no one else likes it either. And out of curiousity what is wrong with honoring people you love with your child's name? Thanks a lot everyone for your input and for the advise I really appreciate it!!
I've successfully talked my husband out of it and actually he is really glad I made the post because he said he wouldn't want everyone to think our daughters name looked kind of childish and trendy lol

There's nothing really "wrong" with honoring a family member with your child's name, it's just something I personally wouldn't do and I also cringe when other people do it. I don't think it's wrong, but I personally believe every child should have their own name. I don't want my kids feel the need to be like someone else because that's who they were named after.

I personally love Brynley. Or Brynlee. What are you thinking for a middle name?

Not the honoring my sister part. The question was more whether it was worth it to use Brynley (with the nn Lee or the variant spelling Brynlea as quoted from my original post ) rather than Brynn. But I realize I was rather unclear in the wording of my question. And I'm not offended because I know that honoring people is a matter of preference or opinion and not everyone is going to agree on the subject, and I'm really not offended by that. I guess I just didn't know why you were making it sound like a negative thing, however I see that some people think it is.

Thanks lots2heart
I wish I could like it a little more for my husbands sake. I dont hate it i just dont think itll age well. Also the middle name we are using if its a boy or girl is a family name: Cole. That part is non negotiable, but if its a girl I want to pair it with a softer more feminine mn as well.

I've just seen your post saying you've managed to steer your husband away from Brynley.
I think it's quite sweet you want you honour your sister though. Have you though about using a name that has the "Leah" sound in it such as Amelia?
It would be a subtle nod whilst still giving your daughter her own name?
