Bring Out A Old Story...

I needed a change of pace tonight so I took out a story I started working on almost two years ago. I've only done the outline on most of the chapters. Though I know what I want the characters to be in my head, I haven't got down with too much characterization yet.

The story is sort of has the "mantracker" feeling to it. It's about three siblings who travel around the country looking for missing people. There is a catch to these missing people but I won't say anything as it will give away my plot. Of course they don't travel on horseback, but rather by car.

I haven't thought too much about personal background or what these characters look like, but they are from Canada born between 1970-1990.....not that it matters to much.

I need ideas for names. The last name is DITCHBURN.

Oldest Brother: I really like Trey, but am open to suggestions.
Sister: I really like Shannon, or Bree, but am open to more suggestions.
Youngest Brother: Maybe something like Ian, Jeremy, or Noah, Lucky? Suggestions welcome.

I worked on some character development today.


The Older Brother is protective and calm in a crisis. He is honest with a deep voice. Is partial to plaid shirts and ice cream is his achilles heel when he’s stressed or needs to think. He uses humor to lighten the mood and hide how dire a situation is. He is kind-hearted and charming with a beautiful smile. He’s on the shy side and is a perfectionist. He is careful and prone to injury as he doesn’t feel physical pain. This affliction also makes him thick-skinned. He is in his mid to late 30’s, tall with a solid build. He has short reddish/blonde hair with sparkling blue eyes.

The Younger Brother is a mess. He is short-tempered, wiry, and never backs down from a challenge whether it’s physical or mental. He’s extremely smart and coy, flawed, needy, and very unlucky, but that is because he is his worst enemy. He drinks and smokes occasionally. He is always chewing on a match stick or toothpick. He was born color blind. He is in his early 30’s, and just under 6’ tall with an athletic build. He has short untamed dirty blonde hair with blue/green eyes.

The Sister is a telepathic. She is 28-31 years old and has long red curly hair. She has her mother’s brown/hazel eyes and like her mother is vertically challenged. She’s an extrovert, beautiful and can blend in anywhere. She is friendly, positive, and independent, but often feels moody and overwhelmed. She knows the evil in people but generally believes most people to be good. She is resourceful and a quick thinker.


The kids were born in a small town in northern Ontario. They had a happy childhood but they move around a lot. The parents died mysteriously when the kids were young.

I love Trey. I feel Tim for the older brother too, but not Timothy. But, the character doesn't have to like his/her name. LOL
I'm feeling Drew for the younger brother, but not Andrew....funny how that works. I'm starting to doubt Rusty. Maybe it's too much?
Like Shannon for the sister. Love Morgan. I'm not sure about Cassie, but I will add it to my list.

I like Kendra, Riley for the sister too.
I like Eli, Lewis, Wesley (nn. Wes), Jared, Griffin (nn. Griff), and Cole for the younger brother too.
I like Grier also for the older brother.

I like Morgan for the sister. Beautiful telepath with an ability for blending in despite these standout qualities puts me a little in mind of Morgan le Fey so Morgan seems like a good fit. For the younger brother Drew seems like a great fit. It sounds like a name for a tall, wiry blonde who doesn't know when to back down.
