Freshen up my list! New ideas welcome!

I just did a similar post for girls, but I'd also love to make some new additions to my boys' list. So, I'll ask you expert Berries to do the same: Critique, make suggestions, give me some middle name ideas, and tear these names apart if you have to. Here are my very favourite boys' names, in alphabetical order!

    1. Adrian
    2. Arthur
    3. Callum...or Callan
    4. Declan
    5. Edwin
    6. Gideon
    7. Glen
    8. Henry

I commented on your girl list so I will comment on you boy list as well!

    1. Adrian - it's okay, I like it better for a girl probably because I knew an Adrienne growing up.
    2. Arthur - love, classic, handsome.
    3. Callum - I like Irish names so it's growing on me. It's still different to me.
    4. Declan - LOVE! LOVE! and love.
    5. Edwin - not my favorite.
    6. Gideon - nice name but still not my favorite.
    7. Glen - prefer for a middle name,
    8. Henry - classy and handsome.

    1. Adrian - while I love most -ian names, I really can't get behind Adrian. I don't know why. It's one of those names I feel like I should absolutely adore it, but it doesn't appeal to me at all.
    2. Arthur - classy, timeless. I like it quite a bit, although I don't think I would use it. It's just a bit too old-school for me, despite the fact that I do like it. It was my great-grandfather's FN, so I feel a connection to it, but I never knew him, so at the same time, I don't...
    3. Callum/Callan - I love the nn Cal, but I much prefer Calvin to both of these. I'm torn between these two--I flipflop on which I prefer, but right now I think I like Callan more. I do have a fascination with names that end with "M", though--I love Adam, William, etc.
    4. Declan - I absolutely love it! It's charming, dashing, smart, handsome, uncommon, and it has a lovely meaning. I would love to meet a Declan, and if I had more room on my list, I'm sure Declan would make it there. ATM, though, I just have too many boys' names. :/
    5. Edwin - nice, and I like most Ed- names, but I like Edison more (not to mention Edward and Edmund).
    6. Gideon - one Biblical name I've never been crazy about. I do love the story of Gideon, though. And I like that it reminds me of Jason Gideon from Criminal Minds, haha.
    7. Glen - it's too dated for me, personally, sorry.
    8. Henry - LOVE! Definitely my favorite, I absolutely love it. Henry is one of those names that I absolutely loved but it just didn't quite fit on my list. I love it to death, though, and would absolutely love to meet a couple Henrys.

Henry, Declan, and Callum/Callan are my favorites!

Adrian: Way too feminine for my liking.
Arthur: Love this! Been growing on me as of late
Callum: yes but no to Callan. Do you like Kellan? or Calhoun?
    Declan: It's okay to me
    Edwin: I prefer Edward
    Gideon: No. So harsh sounding.
Glen: Nope. No appeal to me.
    Henry: LOVE!

    1. Adrian - As a child, I knew a girl with this name so it's hard not to see it as feminine. Andre? Drake? Drew? Damien? Sebastian?
    2. Arthur - like!
    3. Callum...or Callan - Callum just makes me think calumny. Calvin? Casper? Corden? Caden?
    4. Declan - I prefer Dexter or Decker
    5. Edwin - like!
    6. Gideon - love! this is on my list
    7. Glen - this feels really dated to me. Gus (Gustav), Grant, Graham,
    8. Henry - like

    Thanks for the insights ladies!

ashthedreamer - Gideon makes me think of Criminal Minds too! I don't know the story of Gideon...it's mostly on my list because I think it's so interesting...such a different name without being weird or made-up...and because my partner just loves it.

Seems like everyone mostly likes everything, expect for Glen and Adrian...I totally think Glen sounds dated too, I have no idea why I've grown so attached to it...it doesn't really seem to fit in with the others. It's a very unreasonable name crush! But I've yet to get over it! And Adrian...yes, I worry that there are many Adriennes out there...I actually grew up with an Adrienne myself, AND I absolutely did NOT like her! Go figure again! But as a boys' name, it sounds fresh and masculine and adorable to me. There I go being unreasonable again...

If I had to pick a favourite (which I am unable to do with my current girls' list) I'd have to say it's Declan. Both myself and my partner LOVE this name, but I'm concerned that it might be growing too popular. QUESTION: Does anyone know a Declan? More than one?

Keep those comments coming, you expert-Berries!

As a whole, I think your list is great! There are so many wonderful names here.

Adrian - This name has always been on my long list and yet has never made my short list. I love the name. I love the idea of the name. I don't think it's the most interesting choice in the world. It does check all the boxes though.
Arthur - If only my husband didn't hate this name with a passion. I think it's wonderful. It's ready for a comeback.
Callum - I love the meaning and the soft sound of the name while maintaining masculinity.
Callan - Great name. I would be cautious of this one going trendy. It sounds/looks like so many other trendy names.
Declan - I used to love this name. It's becoming really trendy in my neighhourhood with a lot of alternative spellings, inlcuding Declyn.
Edwin - I absolutely adore this name. It conjures up images of astronauts and artists alike. I think a person with this name is well-suited to any profession. There is only one spelling (I hope!) and it's easy to pronounce with many accents. It's at the very, very top of my list!
Gideon - Although I like this name, it's probably my least favorite from your list. It's difficult for some people to say and it makes me think of the Bible.
Glen - For some reason I prefer Glen with two ns. I like the name. I can see it making a huge comeback. It's a little bit dated but not as dramatically as some others.
Henry - I adore the name Henry. You can't go wrong with such a sweet and simple classic.

froggie_luvah - thanks for your thoughts! Looking at your list in your signature, almost every one of your boys' names have been on my list at some point! And I love all your girls' names too...I also have a think for C names, though I'm a Claire, so I guess I'm biased! I'd love to hear your thoughts on my girls' list, it's in the girls forum under the title "Freshen up my list, if you please!"
