I have a Graham that has the nn Grey, and I love it. Graham is not trendy sounding like Grayson or Grayden, it has been around forever and I think serves a boy or a man well, as a name. I also know a Grayson that occasionally gets called by the first part of his name 'Grays' for short, like 'Grace'. Personally I wouldn't want my son being called Grace even some of the time.
If only I could make a living naming other people's children...

Girl names I'm loving right now: Sophie, Jane, Daisy, Arabella, Francesca, Georgia, Naya, Hadley, Nora, Asha, Flora, Maëlle, Beatrice
Boy names I love (after naming 4 of my own): Gideon, Henry, Oscar, Theodore (Theo)

Wootz (and I think a couple others) I love the idea of Graham nn Gray and it makes perfect sense for people who pronounce Graham gray-um. But I grew up with a Graham prn. Gram and never heard of gray-um until I got on nameberry. So it just isn't intuitive to me and I think it'd be weird. It's too bad, because like you said it's not trendy sounding at all, it's a great name and would pretty much be the perfect solution if only that pronunciation came naturally to us!

In case anyone reading this thread is considering Grey themselves, I also thought of Gregory or Gregor nn Grey. I think that works really well! I'd consider it myself, but Chris thinks it's "too normal".

I think Grey William Warfield is lovely! I wanted to add that I grew up with a Grayson, nn Gray (I'm in my late 20s) and really don't think of the name as a trendy name, in case you still were leaning toward the longer version. Also, quite frankly, Lincoln and Jackson (presidents) seem much closer than Grayson/Greyson and Jackson to me. Good luck! I think you've got wonderful choices, no matter what you decide in the end!

Just wanted to let you know that we called "Twin A" Eloise (I think you probably remember) for months while I was pregnant...her name changed to Alice a week before she was born and it didn't really cause much confusion in the long-run. I did have to explain the name change to people who knew we were using Eloise, but it wasn't really that awkward at all!

Crunchy, I do remember that! And I'm so glad to hear it wasn't too big of a deal because I was just in the last couple hours kinda freaking out about it. How did your older girls do with the change? When we say anything to Dash about changing his name he says, "No! It's Lincoln!!!" Chris just texted everyone a little while ago that his name might not be Lincoln and his mom totally flipped out. Ugh.

I wouldn't worry about it. Your family (and even Dash) will come around to a new name if you don't go with Lincoln. It it your choice so just go with what you love.

Just a word about Gray. Know that a lot of the Grayson's out there go by Gray/Grey so you may hear it more than you want too.

    Good luck!

I like both Finn and Gray. I don't think that Gray is a "sad" name at all!

I worked with a Grey last year, and he was a really chilled out guy, suited his name nicely imo as I see it as a rather peaceful, steady colour. Personally I prefer the 'e' spelling. I love your idea of using Greydon/Graydon (or Greyson) & still having Grey/Gray & Grady as nn's. As with many other posters, I prefer Dash & Grey/Dashiell & Greyson to Dash & Linc/Dashiell & Lincoln. And please don't worry about how people will react/think, people will think what they think, who cares, he's your child & you get to name him! Worrying won't change the outcome

I agree with this. Lincoln isn't bad...........but Grayson/Gray/Grey is so much better in my opinion. Also I think Grayson William Warfield is a stunning name!!!
