My thoughts exactly! Only exceptions are when there are versions spelt with y (rather than i) that are "legitimate", such as Elyse/Elise.

I am so confused as to when Jade became a stripper name. Just because it's a gemstone doesn't mean it's "low class, trashy and cheap (which I don't think are great words to describe anything with... nevertheless the name of a person)." I guess I'm just confused as to what determines a "stripper" name because I'm sure there are tons of strippers with "normal" names too. I'm sure there are some Elizabeth, Angela, Claire, and Kates yet these aren't considered stripper names, why? Playing devil's advocate, you see.

Whether you like the name or not, there is bound to be someone given that name, for a certain reason, by someone. To question someone's sanity when using the name, fine. But to dismiss a name with such negative connotations and "label/stereotype" it into an undesirable category as "cheap, low class, trashy, etc. isn't really necessary.

**And as a side note, I have not used any names listed in this comment for children, pets, etc. Just in case someone thinks I'm being biased.**

No stripper would use Kate or Elizabeth as a stage name. Sure there are strippers with those names but not as their stage name. I've seen Jade used as stage and...uh..."professional" names in the adult industry many times.

I dont think its horrible to ise words like tacky, trashy or cheap. If thats the image you get from the name, then thats how you see it, no sense in beating around the bush - and if someone gets offended, I think they should get thicker skin. I've seen my own name on here just in the past 2 days be described as "stuffy" " stodgy" "frumpy" and "ugly" lol, doesnt bother me one bit. I dony think voicing a negative opinion on a name is offensive at all.

Mostly it's if a name is misspelled. Nykole instead of Nicole. Trynyty instead of Trinity (I actually saw a birth announcement with this name. Took me forever to figure out what they were trying to spell). Also, made-up names (ie Nevaeh) and names that are words, not names (Chardonnay, Precious, Miracle, etc.).

Typically, any name found on Toddlers and Tiaras.

Anything named after a designer/brand name...definitely trashy! I agree that the virtue names also are a bit low-class. Just wait though--when this generation's popular names start to become stripper age--we'll have a new genre of low class/trashy names that today seem very fashionable & modern.

All time trashy - Bambi & Cherry
Proud mama of Juniper Anne (11/2010)

Excited to find a sibling name for our baby due in January 2013!

I think a lot of the more popular "virtue" names seem pretty trashy, too = Faith and Hope are the big ones. I don't think one's, like, say, Prudence or Temperance would be suited to stripper at all lol.

Now I'm giggling to myself about a stripper who calls herself Prudence.....

I agree that all of the jewels sound 'cheap' (Except ruby!), & i also agree that label names like Evian, Bentley, Armani. Nat108 is right on the money with all of the ones she listed.

lol, that's weird. To me those kind of names are the reverse of trashy. Those are "homeschool names" in my head. No offense to anyone but I know many families who get really into the whole homeschool lifestyle--make your own clothes, don't watch movies, non-professional haircuts, no birth control, etc/etc. Totally a stereotype, but hey! I know a few of those families who use all of the virtue names for their kids. Charity, Faith, Hope, Grace, Harmony, Joy, Mercy, Patience, Prudence, Verity.

I guess it depends on your definition of trashy. To me trashy means, belonging to someone whose dress, speech, and manner aren't lady-like. I guess I've just never met someone I'd consider trashy with a name like that.

I guess it's the super common ones that give off that vibe - names like Verity, Amity and Prudence don't sound tacky or trashy to me at all - they give me more of the same "home spun" image that it gives you.
