I have trouble thinking of Kelly as a girl's name, even though I have a female cousin named Kelly. Instead, I think of my colleague Kelly DeVries, a famous military historian, who does History Channel specials on the Crusades, medieval weapons, etc. Not very feminine! I do think it's a great name (if our last name didn't start with K, we'd go for it ourselves), and so few girls are named Kelly nowadays that I don't foresee a lot of teasing.
I also came up with Casimir, another "k" sound favorite of mine, with the awesome nickname Caz -- Caspian would probably work for that too. Or you could try for a patron-saint relating to water: Brendan and Florian are two I thought of, and they sound like surfers to me

Zealand's actually pretty cool, but I have a feeling he would get a lot of "Like the country?" questions. The other names are interesting but not my picks.

I suggested Reef- he doesn't like it much. Reminds me of the shoe company, 'Reefs'. We struggle so much with boys names! We have so many solid girl options- Cora and Ivy we both love and would use in a heartbeat! But for some reason we are both on the fence about all of our boys names! We have a pretty lengthy list, but none of them jump out for both of us! Just so you have an idea of what else we like, here is our list-
Dominick (Ike)
Kade
Zealand
Marek
Oliver
Talon
Liev
Keifer
Kelly
Kier

I'd go for Liev, which is awesome. Kiefer and Kier are also good.
Kelly has, unfortunately, gone too much to the girls.
Taj is used by people here who are trying to sound 'surfie' and cool; it's a bit downmarket.
If you don't mind me being brutally honest - Zealand sounds really silly to me. Maybe because I'm from Australia and know lots of people from New Zealand, but...it just doesn't work. It's even got 'land' right in there. He's going to feel embarrassed if he travels internationally when he's older and had to use this name, IMO.

Oooh, I like Kier. TBH, I think your fiance's list is a great group of cool dude names, which seems to be what he wants. I have no doubt that a little boy/grown man could rock each of these names.
Proud Mommy to Serena Genevieve (born 9.19.2012)Girls: Poppy, Georgiana, Claudia, Franny

I like Kier soooo much better than Kiefer, which unfortunately just makes me think of a slang word for some uncomfortable bodily noises.
I'm going to put myself in the pro-Zealand camp, I think it's fine as a name. No weirder than India or Holland or America (which is actually ranked somewhere in the middle of the SSA list IN AMERICA, just mind-boggling to me). When you think about how many country names we use as child names Zealand is really no surprise to me at all, and Zeal/Zealie would be such an adorable nickname.
Off your fiance's list I also like Marek, Talon, and Liev. I wouldn't use Talon if you decide to use Ivy though, it's a bit too obvious a theme for me.Currently Loving:
♥ August, Henry, Dodge, Revere
♥ Mabel, Lilith, Leona, Avis, Zelda

I agree with others that Kiefer would work better than Keefer. I know of two Keith's nn Kiefers. So, if you like Keith that could be an option.
I'm not really a fan of Taj (it looks incomplete to me) or Marek (just not my style).
I actually LOVE Kelly for a boy. I know a boy named Kelly who is about 17 or 18 years old. His name fits him and I've never heard him teased for his name. I've also known several ladies named Kelly but once I met a boy with the name, I really don't like it on females.
From your longer list, I also like Oliver, Kade, and Dominick.John 3:16
