Most of these aren't my style but I could get on board with Kelly. It seems very masculine to me. An Irish surname.

I kind of like Zealand. My husband and I lived in Copenhagen, which is on the island of Zealand in Denmark. I'd always wondered where the "Old" Zealand was.

Ahh i had a whole post done for this and then it all got deleted! boo! well, what I was going to say was, if you want surfer type names and he likes hard 'k' names, Hawaii is a good place to look, with gems like:
Koa
Kalani
Kanoa
Kolohe
Keanu
Kai - although i have a problem with this one because in Maori it means 'food' and i can't get past that!
On the surfer front:
Reef
Albee
John John
Dane
Laird
Balaram (nn Bali)
Breaker
Ford
Flynn
Fletcher
I like Kier/Keir and think its a strong name that stands on its own - I know a guy called Keir and it wears really well!
I also like the idea of Zealand. New Zealand is a special place to me too and seeing as I've met people called India, Ireland, Kenya and China, so I really don't think Zealand is that much of a stretch. but if you want a nod to New Zealand and think Zealand is too strong, how about something like Wellington (nn Wells) or Tasman (or Abel after Abel Tasman) or Hawke (after Hawke's Bay)
Hope there's something in there that you like!

I used to watch a little boy name Kieran, so I wouldn't want to use that. I like Kier though. I LOVE Keanu but my fiance quite dislikes it. Koa is kind of a big dogs name in hawaii, so not huge of that. I also suggested Kanoa to my fiance before (because I love the name Noah) Hawke, and Kai. He wasn't too keen on any. We are definitley using John as a middle name (family name). I like Kolohe, I will suggest it to him and we shall see

As for Zealand, netiher of us have ever been to New Zealand. I just was reading a book about it one day, and thought it would be an awesome name! I had never heard of it as a name before, and everyone I told about it loved it. Sounds so easy-going, strong, cute, unique... I just love it!
