Fickle Post #2
i started out wanting really cool badass names for my twin girls. My fiancé and i chose Ripley Jade and Raevyn Kale. i was so sure those were the names i wanted.
Is it weird that now i want virtue names? Got into an argument with mom about how it doesn't matter what my style is, they could have a personality that is the polar opposite of a punk-rock, badass name. then i will have cursed them forever
. so i think i want them to have names that represent qualities everyone should have. My fiance is reluctant to let Rip and Rae go and i am to but we both think its for the best.
i personally like Bravery. its close to avery, which is a real name so it isn't as though i just pulled it out of the air. Need another name for y other baby girl, does have to start with the same letter or rhyme, but i think they should sound good together. can y'all help me out?

My only advice is not to name your child something that defines who YOU are at a specific time in your life. Naming a child isn't so much about you, it's about the child.

I have to agree with your mother's point, when naming a child one should keep in mind how the child may feel about their name, and how it'll impact them in the world.
Ripley and Raevyn are not names I'd say fall in that "keeping the child's feelings" in mind category. Raven itself is a good idea though. Ripley not so much. I like Riley and Raven a lot more than Ripley and Raevyn.
I like the name Bravery, but on a boy, definitely not a girl.
I think Avery Jade would be a pretty name that leans on the badass fence.
Other ideas that are virtue inspired:
Serenity
Destiny
Hope, Nadia which means Hope.
Faith
Joy/Joyce
Grace or Hanna, Anna, Anya all of which mean Grace
Irene which means Peace.
Patience
Kerensa means Love, I personally like the idea of Kerensa Belle, which would have the meanings of "Love and Beauty"
Bliss
Felicity
Charisma
Harmony
Honor
Jolie
Justine
Liberty
Mercedes meaning Mercies
Tace which means Silence
There's Lux which means light, that you might like as well. I like the spelling of Luxe more.2O - Aries - Slytherin - Daycare Assistant Teacher

I know of a child called Bravery, but he's a boy, but I DO like it.
Ripley and especially Raevyn are not names your child will be able to grow up with at all. Can you imagine your child trying to become a doctor or lawyer with a name like Raevyn?
I, too, have a semi-punk, rockabilly style and I would never push that onto my child. The most I would ever do is give them something quirky and retro - but spelled correctly and something they could put on a resume.
I think virtue names are great -
Felicity
Verity
Amity
Temperance
Joy
Honor
Justice
Constance
Glory
Liberty
I adore Verity, it mean's truth, which I think is wonderful and Felicity is my angel's name.

ah, i love bravery on a girl. i would never name a boy bravery simply because of the ee sound at the end. I can spell it girlier because of the comments but personally i think its a great name for a girl.
Bravery, Braveri, Braverie. i like the original spelling though.
my mom suggested grace and glory or grace and mercy. she likes the name grace what to you guys think?

Please don't misspell Bravery. This is a WORD name-all anyone has to do to learn how to spell it is to take a minute to google it. You will just appear to be an uneducated mother who doesn't know how to spell a very simple to spell word. I like Bravery for a boy quite a bit but definitely not for a girl. I think it would be awful on a girl. Plenty of boys name end with the ee sound.
