    How would you spell this?

How would you spell uh-lee-uh? I can't figure out which would be the best. I think I like Aleah because I feel like it would be the easiest to pronounce, but I just don't know.

Also, how many people do you know that pronounce their name like this?

    Thanks!

Aliya/Aliyah. But most Arabic speakers will say it Ali-ya.

    Aleah just looks immature, unfortunately.

I have only seen it spelled Aliyah. In terms of pronunciation, I think this spelling would have the least amount of mistakes. Good luck!

I always liked Alia, it seems the most simple and elegant choice to me. Aaliyah I think is most recognisable and most likely to be pronounced correctly because of the singer so thats a good choice tojo.

My second fave is Aliya I think. I'm not a fan of Aleah sorry!

I've seen Aaliyah (the singer) and Aleeah (I think that's how that one girl on Teen Mom spells her daughter's name). I prefer the first personally.

Here's some info on the two variants (Aaliyah and Aliyah). Both are considered "legit" spellings, so either is fine. Aaliyah is more popular.

I know one Aaliyah pronounced that way, spelled the way I wrote it, and she goes by Leah. Her own mother never calls her anything but Leah.

    I like the sound okay.

Personally, most of the spellings (Alia, Aaliyah, Aliya, etc.) produce the pronunciation ALL-ee-uh from me. I had a classmate in middle school named Alia and she pronounced it ALL-ee-uh, so that is what comes to mind for me. Aleah would probably help because I say Leah as lee-uh, but it's not the prettiest spelling. I suppose you should spell it how you like and just teach your daughter to let people know how to say her name! I have quite a few friends who just don't correct people because they've given up, but people will get it as long as you tell them "It's Aaliyah pronounced uh-lee-uh" with a smile

I actually think the spelling of Aleah is a little plain. I personally like it spelled like Aalia- which is how my cousin's daughter spells it. I think it's a much prettier spelling.

I think Aaliyah is the most popular in the US, but I like Aliyah the best. It looks the most clean-cut and traditional, to me, and the pronunciation seems pretty intuitive.

    Good luck!
