Ari
I like the name Ari but only as a nickname. I was looking through potential names that I can use Ari as a nickname. Ariel, Ariana/Arianne/Arianna and Arizona are no-gos because of personal reasons. I'm not a big fan of Aria and Ariadne I have trouble pronouncing. Out of 'obvious' names I like Arista and Arissa.
Arissa--I like it but it sounds close to Alyssa and I have a cousin named Alyssa.
Arista--My stepdaughter's name is Alana. Alana and Arista were sisters of Ariel from the Little Mermaid. I don't think many people will get the reference.
With both Arissa and Arista, I feel they are similar to Alana and would leave my biological daughter out. Even though I had no say in Alana's name.
Other names I considered might be more of a stretch:
Marissa--It 'completes' Arissa and helps to avoid another A name in the family. Plus, this was one of the names my mom had.
Ardyn--I like unisex names. It's a bit more of stretch to get the nickname Ari/Ary.
Averly--This name encompasses three names I like: Avery, Everly and Waverly. The -ly is a good way to honor my DH's father who passed away. But, it seems like a VERY large stretch for Ari.
*My signature says Avery. But I am about 75% sure this is our final decision.Mommy to Cadence (b. 2-7-11) and Clarissa (b. 7-4-12)

Arista and Arissa are both nice names. For me, Arista calls to mind Arista Records, but I think it would be pretty cool to meet one. Are you mostly concern with initial sharing or that Arista/Arissa are stylistically similar to Alana?
If the latter is what is bothering you, what about:
Amaris / Amarys
Ara
Araminta
Arcadia
Arden
Arianell (one of my favorites)
Arianwen
Artemis
Artemisia
Arwen
Astara

Ariel (any form), Ariela (any form), Arianna (any form), Ariadne, Aria, and Arizona are already NOs. LOL.
I am a bit concerned with both. The intial and the style but I am trying not to look so much into the initial. Especially since I like Avery.
I have Arden but spelt Adryn. Is that a stretch for the nickname Ari or Ary?Mommy to Cadence (b. 2-7-11) and Clarissa (b. 7-4-12)

I really like Arden! I don't think it's too much of a stretch. I do prefer this spelling however - most people will guess this way and she might be often correcting for the y in Ardyn. Obviously your call, but also since you used the traditional spelling for Cadence (and not Kaydense or the like), I think Arden looks better matched.
I like the sound of Cadence and Arden, also Cadence and Avery. Ari from Avery is a bit of a stretch but you can totally do it. Perhaps especially with an R or Ri/Rhi middle name? Avery Rhiannon?
It has a tie-in to Lord of the Rings, but do you like Arwen? I think Arden or Avery might be preferable, but Arwen is fine.
Or there's also Auri from Aurora if Auri and Ari are pronounced the same to you (depends on your dialect)
Also:
Arabel/Arabelle/Arabella (follows the trendy bell/bella stuff)
Araceli/Aracelia/Aracelis (Spanish names - quite different from Cadence but also quite lovely)
Good luck!

I adore the nickname Ari.
I like Arista, Marissa, and Arden spelled that way. Arissa is too...incomplete. Averly is too made up seeming.
Some ideas I have so far are already mention in your post, (Ariana, Aria, Ariadne, Ariel, Arista, Arissa, Arden), but some that aren't are:
Gabriela nn Ari It's a very big stretch, but I like it!
Charlotte nn Ari
Caroline nn Ari
Cara
Adriana / Adria
Aurora
Aurelia / Aurelie

I absolutely love the nn Ari! I love Arden/Ardyn as a way to get it, for you. I have always thought Aurora and Aurelia/Aurelie would be really pretty ways to get it, but those are really frilly, haha, so I'm not sure they would appeal to you.
I think you could also do something like Clarissa/Clarisse, Marisa (I like mah-REE-sah better than mah-RISS-ah, but both are cute), Maria/Marie/Mariana/etc., Parisa/Paris, etc. to get to Ari. Or, depending on how you say Ari (ARE-ee or AIR-ee? I've heard both), you could also use the initials RE to use Ari. Like Reese Elizabeth or Rachel Evangeline or Reagan Ella, etc...
Good luck!Ashley
