    I think we've decided...

We've been going back and forth for a while now... But hubby and I both love our names and now I just want to get in one last feel for how people view them.

    DD: Audrey Claire

If it's a boy: James Glen
If it's a girl: Lizabeth Katherine

We know there has been quite a bit of eyebrows being raised over the dropped E. Our thoughts are.. We like that it starts with the L and She is going to be requested to spell her name anyways because in this day and age EVERYONE is spelling names differently. Our daughter already is asked to spell her name and it's a traditional spelling. So i really would like everyones honest opinion. Thanks.

Very nice choices. Is Glen with one "n" a family name? Just curious because I've only ever seen it spelled Glenn when used as a name for a boy.

I prefer Lisbeth if you're going to drop the "E", but Lizabeth is very pretty as well.

I adore both names, although I would still keep the 'E' and spell it Elizabeth. Sure, she will likely have to clarify spelling with any name, but at least she won't get the additional annoying clarification process. I am sure she will have to constantly correct people -- as in "You said your name is Elizabeth?" "No, it's LIZABETH, without the 'E'" -- and then have to spell it anyway. She also will likely be called Elizabeth by anyone who hears her name and doesn't see it on paper -- they sound so similar and people will almost always assume it is ELizabeth and not just Lizabeth. Just my honest opinion. But at the end of the day, follow your heart!

Glen is a family name (hubbys, his fathers mn and his gfathers fn). We would call her Beth either way. But LK-KL initials is a nod to my family. Grandfather, Aunt, Mother and myself all have LK-KL initials. And it's slightly different. Thanks again y'all.

I like Glen a lot! It was my father-in-law's middle name, which my husband requested we use for our first son. I agreed because I truly like it as a boy's middle name. I have seen Glen with one N used quite a bit. About a year ago, a man whose first name was Glen was running for a local political office in our area. For the year 2000, the Social Security Administration indicates that Glenn ranked at 590 in popularity, while Glen ranked at 765.

EDITING TO ADD (I got interrupted when posting earlier): With its strong hard G, Glen complements a masculine first name very well. James Glen is a handsome combo!

As for Lizabeth Katherine, I like that she will go by Beth. It will reduce potential mix-ups with Elizabeth.

Mother of three teenagers: (1) Daniel Glen, (2) Timothy Austin, and (3) Rebecca Jane... all middle names honor family... 3rd generation mn Jane. (A second girl would have been Susanna Eve and a third boy, maybe Isaac...)

I will modify my answer.......if you are going to call her Beth anyway, I would say spell her full name however you want.

    I like your name choices!

Just curious (haven't seen you other threads about the name, if you had any) how you are pronouncing Lizabeth? Is it just Elizabeth without the "uh" first sound (Elizabeth = uh-lizza-beth so would Lizabeth be lizza-beth?) My first instinct was to pronounce the name more like a double-barrel first name Liza-Beth.

We had just been saying Lizza-Beth. Though I like Liza-Beth. Neither hubby nor I mind either variation. I think we might have to decide that part later on. Lol I was afraid he wouldn't like Liza-Beth. He didn't care for Lisbet or Lisabet. He had quite the aversion. lol But just saying Liza-Beth to him he went "Hmm..i don't mind either way"
