I knew quite a few girl Baileys growing up, but not a single boy with the name. I think I'd actually use the nickname Bee!

Hi Rollo, Bailey for a girl is relatively common in North America so it don't find it very exciting like you do
. It just blends in with all of the other similar sounding names like Hailey, Kaylee, Ainsley and Paisley. I prefer Bailey on a boy myself. FYI - American singer Melissa Etheridge has a daughter Bailey Jean (she also has a girl named Johnnie Rose too).
All the best,
Mischa.

I didn't see the option I wanted to vote. I just don't like Bailey for either a boy or a girl.

I grew up with boy and girl Baileys all around me. None of them went by a nickname unless it was just a family nickname at home. I put it in the same category as Jordan which there were also a lot of boys and girls with this name when I was younger. I see them as unisex names that work for both even though they are not my style.

I reckon either gender can pull it off: I know a female Bailey, recently met a boy called Bailey. In my country it is more popular for boys. Still, both Baileys I know are very cheerful, so that's how I see the name.
EDIT: Oh, and neither off them have nicknames as far as I know, they are both just Bailey. The girl Bailey gets called by her fn and mn by her mother.Last edited by amberdaydream; May 26th, 2012 at 12:04 PM.
