Like the others, I like it as a nickname. I know a Tyson who goes by Sonny. Any -son name lends itself to the nn Sonny.
Oh, he likes the Jean-Luc reference which I don't mind at all but we already have McCoy on our list and DH was named for a Star Trek character.
We love it (but plan on using the nn Mack). The more research I did on the origin of the name just made me love it more.
I like Emerson a lot
Emerson Phillip Grey is my favorite, what about Emerson Phillip Charles?
I don't understand your hesitation in considering Emerson Linus
Kit seems out of place with the...
What do you think about using a double first name on a boy?
We really like John-Luke but there is a reality star with that name.

On our list is Gentry which was as close to honoring Terry Gene as we will go.
I agree with the issue with masculine names for girls.
All of our favorites have special meanings for people who...
Congrats, great name!
I would use my top names
Ruby Alice & Cora Margaret or Lydia Jane
McCoy Samuel & Gentry Thomas
Ruby Alice & McCoy Samuel or McCoy Thomas
With Fox and Aria I would stick with word names. Vale and Wren definitely fit. What about Story or Honor?
Both are great but I prefer Ezra and agree Owen Lewis is W heavy.
I prefer it on a girl, despite what parents intend someone is going to shorten it in some way and I can't think of a masculine nickname for it.
I like his girl names and your not names, I vote he names a daughter and you a son, but that is completely my personal opinion, lol.

Grandmothers are Mommom where I grew up and I called them both that. My grandfathers were Poppop and Grandfather. I also had g-grandmothers that were Granny and O'ma (old grandmother) and someone I...

Ruby is to honor someone who was an amazing woman I am proud to say I am related to. I waffled on middle names quite a bit over the years but Mom was like Ruby Alice (Alice was my...

I actually have a pretty long list of GPs.
I like Lara too (and Liana) but DH likes Liara, I don't think it hurts it is a character from a video game he likes lol
WDYT of Liara? (lee-are-ah)
It's really outside of my naming style and I like names with a history...but it would be a nod to my FIL Larry.

I think Maxwell is so masculine. Maxa, Maxia, Maxzelle, or Maxine seem more fitting.
If you aren't legally changing it I am sure her opinions will change a lot as she grows up and one day she may...

Almost all our choices are family names, but here are some more unusual ones from our tree:
I think any of them work except chaos (the word doesn't have any positive connotation to me) and general, because besides the rank it also has the meaning of the opposite of specific.
I considered Gentry as a first name but know it would end up as Gen (Jen) or Gene as a nickname.
And I am glad others agree it is the spirit of the name. He would know Gentry was after his...
Lyric, its one of those names I love but wouldn't have the guts to use.
