Eleanor. So strong and beautiful.
Helena (if it's HEL-en-a) is lovely too, but its ambiguous pronunciation is a turn-off.

Even if she's having a girl and Millie is #1 on her list, it may not turn out as bad as you fear. They could end up with very different formal names, and it's not a big deal for second cousins living...

I used a whiteboard. (Kind of.) While I was ttc, I divided the board into fourths and made first and middle name lists for both genders. After that, I "auditioned" one name at a time--I'd ignore...
I prefer Reid. Reed is a tad weedy and watery for me. Also, like thatkathryngirl said, it makes me think of a spit-soaked oboe reed.
Christian Kane played a character named Eliot Spencer on "Leverage," but not everyone is going to make that association. I like the combo.
I don't think the Eliot Spitzer thing is a problem...
ITA, V-names do have a special charm!
I picked Vanessa for sentimental reasons (it's my middle name), but I love every name on your list except Valentina and Victoria.
Daphne. I just prefer the sound and the look of it.
I also have and adorable 14-month-old niece named Daphne, and I admit that influences my opinion a bit. ;)
I don't think they're too close for cousins. Who knows? They may even like being Lu and Lou. My cousins Lori and Laura never minded their names being somewhat similar. I think they actually...

Popularity doesn't matter much to me. I might use it to help me choose between 2 names I love equally, but I rarely consider it otherwise. I'd cheerfully use a top 10 name if it felt right.
Movie: Christmas in Connecticut. I lovelovelove Barbara Stanwick.
Song: "O Holy Night"
Tradition: I love it all, but my favorite might be reading the Nativity story from Matthew and the "Twas...
What I like best about Maeve is its sweet simplicity, so neat and compact. Maeva isn't awful, but it feels heavy, by comparison, and fussier.
I went to my son's class Christmas party and ended up taking care of his teacher's infant son and his room mother's infant and toddler daughters. And all three were perfect little angels.
My mom went all out for Santa and now I do too. I use special "Santa-specific" paper and calligraphied tags that don't match any of our other gifts, a little thank you card/special note from Santa...

There are sisters in my son's school named Destiny and Cora. I think Destiny might even be kree8ivlee spelled with a double ee. They seem like complete style opposites.
I don't think Hillary was ever popular enough to be dated. I like the name (though I prefer the Hilary spelling).

I may have been born with it. I would always talk to strangers about their names, despite being shy, and I would name and rename my dolls. Uma Thurman had nothing on 7-year-old me; some of my dolls...
The eldest Heidi I know is in her 40s; the youngest is under 5. It doesn't seem dated to me.
I've always liked Heidi. It's high energy, for sure, but not overly juvenile or cutesy, and I think...
The one young Blair I know IRL is a boy. I generally prefer it for a boy, but I consider it unisex.
It's uncommon enough that I think it would be easy to live with, boy or girl. It wouldn't be...
As a variation on the Starbucks test, I've done the "restaurant wait list" test--give the name to the hostess and wait for your party to be called.
It takes some explaining the first time you do...

Nikki. There was also a Caryn who came in a close second.

I have plenty, I guess.
1) It has to be easy to pronounce. No one gets our surname right, so I don't want the same problem with a first name.
2) It doesn't necessarily have to be the most...

I love the thought of Harvey as brother to a Fern.
Fern is one of my favorite botanical names, btw. Lovely choice.
