My eldest DD is nicknamed Buggy by family - came from a pair of pyjamas she had as a baby with bugs on it TBH. She's grown into the NN definitely though - has a pet spider that free ranges around our...
I agree with PP about adapting Allen rather than using the A initial - so maybe:
Not sure where you're from or if regional accents may change the pronunciation.
Here in Australia, I know a few girls named Kara and they always pronounce it cah-ra. Same with Tara (Tah-ra) and...
With respect, I find it a little odd to say you're naming a baby after someone and then use a variant on their middle name - to me the connection is way too tenuous to be considered an honour name....

As a mother of a Claudia who has never liked Alice and finds it really plain in comparison, I definitely vote for not changing it.

Personally I think it's important to have a name both parents love. So if that's Evelyn, then I'd go with it. Your boys will adjust - my DD1 (just younger than your DS2) easily understood that her...

Simon is the best objectively - solid, classic in the "sweet spot" between too popular and unheard of.
I have a soft spot for Bernard though after watching too much Black Books.
Agree with PPs...
Our Claudia gets Claudie. It suits her.
She also gets Buggy, which comes from a favourite jumpsuit as a baby. So NNs are what you make them really.
I think Diva would work for Claudia...

As a Denise, I have to speak up for the name. It's actually made a kinda cool resurgence of recent among TV shows casting young blonde actresses if that helps change perspective any...
Loved it ever since I read Ben Elton's Two Brothers. You might get a few pronunciation issues but I say go for it.
My name hasn't been used in NSW since 2004 from the looks of things and it's not on the Vic list either! I'm in SA but can't track that anymore - BDM used to publish all names...
Mine was in the top 10 about 20 years before I was born. It was on the downturn in a big way by the time I got it and I think it's in the late 600s in the US now (no way of tracking it in Australia...

My partner was born in between Xmas and new years and can't stand it to the point that we didn't TTCin March, April or May just to make sure we could avoid it for our children! As a child, nobody...
Annika Rosealine arrived 6:20 last night Australian time (18 October) in quite a hurry!
Her big sister Claudia Vivian is quite besotted with her.
Everyone is doing so well - we are very much in...
We're 38+4 here, first names will most likely be Harriet or Annika (Nina or Keira as outside chances).
Middle names are a mess and DP isn't really interested in matching them.
Out of the...

As an Aussie who turned down Richmond as a suggestion for similar reasons (although I support the Bulldogs and live interstate...)
There is no way you'd get away without most people making the...
1. Agatha - Yay
2. Angelique - Nay, prefer Angela or Angelina
3. Antonia - Yay
4. Araminta - Nay, a little OTT for me
5. Atalanta - Nay, would forever be mistaken for Atlanta
6. Athena - Nay,...
I loved it so much I used it for my DD1. It really suits her!
How about Matisse, for another Mat name?

That's interesting that paid work is seen as something that the man "gets" to do like it's a privilege but being a SAHM or using childcare is sonething a woman "has" to do.
This comnent is from...

The "I'm carrying the baby so I'm naming the baby" attitude of the author is really selfish and quite awful.
Yes, she is going through a lot physically to carry the child - but biologically it is...
Sorry but I really dislike it.
Firstly the Harpy connection - and secondly it sounds to me like a person who is always harping on (incessantly whinging - not sure if it's just Australian slang or...

Very few of my friends really have used names that I'd use for my children and there's a few I absolutely dislike, but only two are that disappointing.
The first had the baby quite suddenly and...
@tct1219 - nah, Georgia.
I know it's only a MN rumour but I am shallow enough to strike it off.
