My daughter goes to my in-laws house every Wednesday evening and she loves it. She gets her special time with her Mimi. This has been important with her new cousin Ella joining in May, Saela in June,...
Hate it on a boy. Don't really like it on a girl either. I think it has crossed over and there's no going back.
I work in a Middle school, and I see very little teasing because of names. However, I work in a school with mixed races, religions, and ethnicities. It seems these kids are more open to unique names...

24 people with my name. Sadly, I know one of them and my future sister in law will bump this up to 25! Maeby and Saela are the only ones with theirs :)
Love it on a girl. I have a niece who is 16 named Quil. I can only imagine it on a girl since I already have an association for the name.

I think you will get a lot of people pronouncing it Is-uh-LEE-nuh. Like a combination of Isabelle et all and Lena, like Lena Dunham. I think I like it as Is-uh-LEE-nuh better than your pronunciation....

The dog's name is Brian! Yes, Griffin is their last name, but I honestly didn't make the connection. Griffin is a nice name

I have a niece named Quil and it suits her completely. She is 16 years old now but I would love to meet a little girl with this name!
My first daughter is 4 years old and we just recently brought my 2nd daughter home. Maeby was very excited about being a big sister, up until about 2 weeks before delivery. Then she wanted nothing to...

Saylor Mae - my mother's maiden name and my grandma's Middle name. Saylor was actually part of the inspiration for my daughter Saela's name.
Orris Conrad - my grandmother's maiden name and a...

How is everyone doing? Also wondering if there are any August babies yet!
Saela is doing well. She's 7 weeks already! She is starting to get chubby and give us some smiles. Her hair is...
First I thought of is Mikhail. I think it goes well with Nicolai but not too sure about your girls names.
Also love Simone, and Hazel doesn't do anything for me either. Although Haze does sound like a cool Middle name...
I immediately thought of Matthew Shepherd as well, and the Laramie Project. That would make it a no for me, but it does have a nice sound for a girl.
There is an episode of the Office where the lead characters ex-lover is pregnant and plans to name the baby Astrid. However, he mishears it as "ass turd" and hilarity ensues. I can't get past this,...
These names are all very common at the inner city Middle School I teach at. Jovan might be derived from Jove, but it is mostly pronounced like Jovaughn and all its variations. While it may be the...
I love the name Vada, and the Darth Vader connection (hubby loves star wars) but to most people in the US they absolutely do not sound the same. I see how in some accents they would, but Vader...

I say go for it. My husband is a total nerd for star wars and star trek. If our first daughter had been a boy, he would have been Luke. I'd our second had been a boy, he would have been Zefram, after...

I would say Wyola is a no, but I do like Wintry. I think there is more appeal for Wintry because it actually is a word, where Wyola just sounds and looks wrong. I think Wintry could be used for...
You just posted about this baby.... Again. Is it Lyn or Lynn? Was she born July 17th or 18th? The second post was inconsistent with the first.

When I was younger, I loved the name Star for a Middle name. Now I see it as kind of trashy, and I would never have chosen it for my daughter. I also loved the name Imogen, from the movie Down To...
I like the name Elliot for a girl. You could call her Elle or Ellie if you wanted a nickname. I prefer it on a girl, actually. I don't think that naming a girl Elliot would make her think you'd...
