This is why I don't recommend Wattpad for my teenaged writing students. Those of us who are professionals are not on Wattpad. Even as an agent, if I'm looking for clients, I don't look on Wattpad,...
Can we skip a letter? Because I don't know that I could come up with eight names starting with Q, let alone eight names I like!
Robert, nn Robin
But Giles is not pronounced in English with a hard "g". In English, the letter i following the letter g makes the g soft. If you like hard G names, what about Gordon (which is always popular in BC)...

You need to develop your characters further to find the name. Does your story take place in 2014? If so, go back 25 years or so and look at the top twenty names. My own daughter is 29 and named...
I prefer Graham, although you can also spell it Graeme. A common nn is Gray/Grae. Also, lots of guys in BC are named Gordon.

My name choices for characters are bound up in who the characters are, their families, where they've come from, when they were born, etc. I assume we're talking about main and main supporting...

Giles Edmund is perfect -- in fact, that was to be the name of my second child if she'd been a boy. Two hero names -- Giles, for Giles Corey, the unlikely common man hero of the Salem Witch Trials...
We don't know anything about these extended families, so how could we help you?

Well, I'm sure you can see what generation my siblings and I are from:
Leslie Elayne (me; Leslie after Leslie Caron, the actor/dancer; Elayne is my mother's name and I chose it; my mother didn't...
I personally love Chester; the American baritone Chester "Chet" Ludgin was a friend of mine. However, you can add Anglo-Saxon endings to this Anglo-Roman name:
Chetwin or Chetwyn
Love Last Tango in Halifax -- and Derek Jacobi! And I too listened carefully to the names....so funny. Puir wee bairn. But we also have: Alan, Celia, Raf, Gillian, John, Caroline, Kate, William,...
As the cousin of Samuel Dashiell Hammett, I can tell you the reason why you want to pronounce the name dash-eel. It's because everyone outside of family has always pronounced the name incorrectly. ...
I am bi and finally came out two years ago, after being asked to become faculty advisor for the first ever high school GSA in our extremely rightwing and conservative community. The kids -- all of...

Adiel or Adriel
Eben, Eli, Elisha
Jotham, Judah, Joram, Joel, Joachim,...
Actually, I just mentioned Silence on today's blog thread. In my family, the Brewsters of Mayflower fame, Silence is a recurring name...and it's also the name of a stillborn child in Ben Ames...
Personally, I think you should be writing about what you know. You sound very young, and this sounds like a "mash-up" between Divergent, Hunger Games, and a number of other dystopian YAs. I can't...
As a professional writer and writing teacher, the grammar goes with the character. It does, indeed, become tricky, because it all depends on the point-of-view. In one of my novels, I use first...
Well, Naomi (nn Nomi) has always been a favourite in my neck of the woods. Here are some traditionial combos for Naomi:
I remember she responded to my blog about the Brewster genealogy names with her mention of her love for the name Solace, which was featured frequently in my family.
Solace seems to epitomise who...
I was unable to post when I read the news in urgent prayers, because I was so saddened. Rollo and Mischa were the two friendly faces I met when I joined this forum -- four years ago? three years...
