Pronounced MEE-lahn, according to her facebook page, which also says it "means dear, loving and gracious in Slavic; in Ancient Roman, eager and laborious; and in Sanskrit, unification." I think I...
Tobias Henry - very handsome name.
Isaac Amadeus - Love seeing Amadeus as a mn, and Isaac is pretty nice.
Sebastian James "Seb" - Love both names, don't like the combo very much. What about...

I really like some of these!
I think these might be usable.
Haven, Thayer, Walden, Copley, Winfield, Carrington, Anson, Delavan, Morris, Williston, Myron, Elwyn, Demetrius, Bowden.

They aren't horrible on principle, as long as they don't go to extremes with spelling. It's just some individual ones that are highly questionable, that I've seen. Xikariyus, or something, is...
I WANT to like Alasdair, but it looks like it would be pronounced differently. I prefer Alastair, which combines the two.
Completely different, imo. Nail polish is just pretty colors and usually has nothing to do with trying to make yourself more attractive, which is the major problem I see in giving young girls makeup....
I don't think there's anything wrong with honoring your dog in your child's name. It's only the middle name, and it's also honoring your father since the dog was named to honor him. Junction is a bit...
I like Edward and Casper.
But, I agree with what other people have said. Even if his current name isn't very usable in the US, try to honour it somehow, or find the nearest English equivalent. And...
I like all the names on your list except for Boone and maybe Piers. Rhys and Finn are my favourites.
Finn Rhys Albert
Brant Rhys Albert
Rhys Thane Albert
But I also like Albert as the first mn......
Aerilee does sound like "airily," and I'm not a fan. I like Aeriani. I prefer Arianna, which sounds very similar, but is more classy. Or Ariadne, also very similar. Other suggestions, if you do want...

Matilda - spunky, maybe a bit old, but I think it's cute, especially with the nn Tilda
Tallulah - I HATE this. I know a lot of people like it, but it sounds tacky and even trashy to me - for...
Thanks, Sunshine. :) I also look to other languages for meanings like that, and I've started to look at Latin names as possible ways to reference animals, at least as mns, because I'd really like to....

Anton Remiel or Vera Lenore, both new combos.

My favourites from your new list are Illyria (LOVE) and Melisande.
Some days I love Thalia, some days I really dislike it. Beatrice is lovely, but not terribly interesting. Apolline is pretty -...

I like Ivar, Vilhelm, Sergius, Gustav, Sverre, Alvar, Alasdair, and Lucius. I ADORE Gustav and Alasdair.
If you really do hate it, it's better to change it now. I like the sound of Mckenna Leigh, although Mckenna is a little too trendy for my taste - I might lean towards something like Monica Leigh,...
Just wanted to clarify, the list isn't my personal baby name list, it's just some eclectic word names that I thought would be poorly received because I wanted to hear some comments on why they seem...
Poll: Word Names
Assume it's a word that is NOT already a familiar name, like Rose.
I'm curious about why specifically people often reject word names. If you do, is it often because you think they're ACTUALLY too...

I love your list! Anton is one of my old faves. I like the nn Toshka for it, but I'm used to hearing Russian nns and I know it might sound feminine to some people.
Alaric, Artemis, August, Henry,...
For the people who have mentioned girls names on boys - I would love to see this. I especially hate that people are so afraid to use names that have "gone to the girls" because it's so socially...
Tabitha and Matilda seem perfectly usable to me!
I'd probably go with some of my GP word names...
for a girl:

I love your list! The only ones I actually dislike are Hector (sounds ugly), Herne (same), Idris (flimsy), Rufus (a dog name), Tiberius (over the top for today), and Weyland (boring).
