@simonekadele my husband says he doesn't like Jude. Of course he said he didn't like Calvin up until about 4 days before he was born, so we'll see!
Thanks everyone! Of the names you recommended, I like these the best:
Ford (except my husband said "I want an adventure name, not a capitalist name!")
Rex (my husband...
It's been over a year since I've scoured nameberry, but we're back at it with a baby due in November! We're looking for an "adventurous" name for a boy. My husband said, "like Huck or Finn or...
Thank you so much, everyone!
Calvin Job was born at 12:24am on February 14! We didn't know if we were having a boy or a girl....what a precious Valentine's Day surprise!
Both his first and middle name were on my (long) list...

You guys are killing me with the Ophelia love! Maybe if/when we see a little girl (we don't know the sex), my husband will be more open to putting the name to the face! Right now he says it's...

@mrs_alton_yelchin1990 Thanks for your suggestions! Of the names you listed, my favorites are Ophelia Ruth, Alexandra Blair, Alexandra Jane, and Abigail Louise =)

@stlmama225 Yes Olive Abigail is really nice. I'll have to bring that one up with my husband...honestly, the reason Abigail and Alexandra are on the list is because he likes the nicknames Abby,...

@ashleyjuliette Yes the V-R transition in Olive Ruth is a little awkward for me too. Sometimes I don't know if I'm just a dunce at pronouncing things, or if it's a legitimate problem! Since our...

@opheliaflora that's so neat that you suggested Olive Matilda, as Matilda was on our "medium-long" girl's list, but was only recently cut. Never thought of it as a middle!

@apollonia, those are GORGEOUS combos, wow! I love your user name too =)
I especially love Jane Alexandra, there is something so perfect about that.
Do you think Olive Magdalene is a little...

I love Ophelia too!! But my husband says it's solidly in place no. 3, after Ruth (Olive is our unanimous no. 1). Thanks for bringing Blythe up from my signature...it really is a beautiful middle...

Here are our top 10 girls' names:
Olive (Olivia is not an optional alternative)
Louise (Louisa is an alternative, but Louise has more impact because it is a family name)

I actually do know a "boy" named "Loren," although he's my age (30-ish)!

Thanks for the great suggestions, everyone!

I'm looking for girls' names that have boy-ish nicknames, or boy names that are more girl-ish. For example,

Thanks for your suggestions, @lily79! I hadn't thought of Noah before, but I do like the connections between Noah and the olive branch! 2 concerns: 1) is it getting too popular? and 2) our last...

Thanks for your suggestions, @rkrd! We already have a family member named Arielle (but not one that I would want to honor with a name...nothing against her, she's extended step family so we're not...

Yeah I know what you mean about not trying to convince myself, but on the other hand...I'm sort of feeling like I should "give" this one to my husband. He hasn't asked for much during...

What a great suggestion!

Ooh I do love Ophelia Louise, and Remy Ezekiel/Remy Morgan are great combos as well! I agree family names are always a plus. I'm sure I would be more open to Ezekiel if it was...

Thank you @katieydenberg! Aurielle is too close to two friend's daughters's names (Aurora and Aurelia) and a family member's name (Arielle). I don't know why Ariel feels "removed" enough, but it...

We don't know the sex of the baby, so we need to think of names for both!
Olive--our top pick; middle would probably be Louise (family name)
Louise--I like this as a first as well, not...
It's a good name. As mentioned above it is pronounceable and recognizable, and while still being unique. Go for it! Paige works nicely as a middle as well.
