Welcome to the world, little Julian Hawthorne
I like Gray Everett the best for this combo, and I named my son Hawthorne!
I think Hawthorn (often nicknamed THORN) might be a bad choice with the last name Rose.
But Zephyr just makes me think of BABAR's little monkey friend...sigh.
That said, I went with Zephyr,...
We love our little Hawthorne. We call him both by his full name and his nick name of Hawk.
A few people with heavy accents have a hard time with the "wth" sound in the middle of the name, but no...

I used it as a FN for my son. I remember being very surprised people thought of it as a girls name when I first started fishing around for opinions. With nick names like Thorne and Hawk and Thor, it...
Ender was on our short list for our first, who was born in 2010. Not everyone waits for a movie to be inspiration. I also read the books.
As for name ideas, I understand how hard it is to come up...

We actually named our son Hawthorne just this Sept, so obviously we don't think its unusuable.
We call him Hawk. Other possible nick names could have been Thor or Thorne. All are pretty manly...
Robin Williams and Batman and Robin were my first thoughts. :)
Its a sweet name :)
We call our little Hawthorne Sebastian (just born in September) Hawk for his nn. Everyone, from grandpa (86yrs old) to our school friends think its pretty good. Most people like the name, I've had no...

Yay for Yavanna! That's my given name. My parents gave me that name 33 years ago and I have yet to meet another. I'd love to meet one someday.

Thank you! You are only the third person ever in my life to recognize it from Tolkien upon seeing it. Everyone I grew up with just assumed my parents made it up. :)

Thank you everyone. I am in love. So far he has the sweetest disposition, so different from his sister as a newborn. Such a gentle soul. :)

On September 25th, at 9:18 pm, our clan increased by 1!
Hawthorne Sebastian Reynolds, was born at home after a quick, uneventful planned homebirth. 8lbs 2oz of snuggly love. Born at almost 42 wks...

I know someone who changed her son's name after she remarried from the very ethnic, middle eastern name she gave him at birth, to a very plain vanilla Americana name. I think he was 5 at the time....

I'm actually thinking of Hawthorne for my child if it is a boy. :) As in Nathaniel Hawthorne.
Other than the obvious Austen, Bronte, type names, have you considered character names instead of...
The name I picked for my DD wasn't even on the top of our name list. We were even discussing names while I was still in labor! in the end, I went with a name COMPLETELY different from what we were...
I think people will assume you didn't know how to spell the name if you went with your DH's spelling.
Nickname spellings often have very little to do with the actual name. How else can you...
I chose Gideon because it seems "fresher" to me. IDK. I have always liked Gabriel, but I think it was a better name maybe a decade ago.
Thank you nameberries!
Sebastian is one that's been on our list since our DD, Charlotte. If she had been a boy, it was a possible contender.
Clark was something my DH added to the list, and both...
Poll: Narrowing it down!
So we've been mixing it up a bit with our boys names, but I think we are down to the final contenders.
in various combinations with other names etc.
Some of the...

While I found the article to be a bit sexist in general, I do have to say there is a point with the whole "rejection" thing.
It annoys me to no end when I work so hard to come up with a LIST of...
My name is Yavanna Tara
My one sibling's name is Christina Lovette
Once I told someone my sister's name and they said "where did your mom come up with that one? Those names don't match at all..."...

This is why my MIL isn't allowed to hear our name choices. Last time she was so negative about so many of the names it made us a bit heartbroken :(.
This time we've let her...
Thank you all for your help,
I think my DH is finally opening up to some new ideas. He still likes Reid or Sebastian as middle names for Hawthorne, but I'm getting him to think about James or...
