FWIW my own mother begged me not to use the name she knew I had my heart set on for my second son...she had ALWAYS been down on it (I never should have shared it with her!) but I used it anyway. Lots...
One other thought per the initial poster- I think the gender stereotyping is increasing to such a degree that I find that girls and boys no longer play together, at least not the way they did in my...
Agreed, however I worry that the already existing misogyny of many men is only being exacerbated by women's freedom-IWO that we pay for it one way or the other (in the prior form of lesser freedoms...
As the mother of a large family with mixed genders I think about this topic a lot. While the Women's movement was Essential, I think that, like after many movements, we are experiencing a cultural...

Since the other two are "l" heavy, I might keep the theme but vary the ending:
Lorelei fits well!
Or have another name that featured an L, maybe
Or since Leila...
I voted for Jane but now that I see that your mn is 1 syllable, I might go with a 2 syllable MN-just not Mabel. Veronica Jane is lovely though.

I would try to feminize it somehow and also lengthen it for flow-Blythe Jamesina? Blythe Broadus is OK but I don't care for the name as much, and initials B.J. might be an issue too? Depends on your...
While they are both pleasant sounding names, I'd choose Francesca hands down (and ditch one of the middle names, maybe just do Francesca Pearl).... IMO Annabel is more dull and lackluster-it's got...

You might want to watch the Barbie movie: Barbie in a Mermaid Tale-SERIOUSLY! My kids love the movies, and I think the Barbie movies have quite a bit more substance and creativity than one would...
I think Lucia fits nicely with what they want, as well as the jsut mentioned Francesca...

I think Beau would be cute-but maybe not as "hard" a name as the others. I like Rhys and Knox too- Also like Rex. I think Van works fine but I too like Vaughn better. I also like Vince! I think Vince...

Absolutely, Isn't it the name of the character in Gone with the Wind who owns the "Ladies' house" that Rhett frequents? I think it's quite nice and I find it far different and nicer than the trendy...
Thea Seraphine and Merida Collete are lovely and interesting but still subtle, not weird and pleasantly poetic to the ear (2-3 syll , or 3-2 with nice emphasisis). Nice choices.
I actually like the juxtaposition of Seraphina Hale, and I also like the single syllable and long A. How about Seraphina Jade or Seraphina Jane or Rain? Snow is pretty too and I love alliterative...

I think Hazel matches Leo the best style wise-long vowels, retro feel, 2 syllables, but I have to say Vivienne is really a nice one from your list-it is lovely without being overly feminine (like...

No! I love Clara, it's so classic and lovely. First and foremost, I think of the Nutcracker. I would not worry about the rhyming bit. I also like Clarabel but for some might evoke cow imagery, lol....
I pronounce it Sal-oh-may with the Sal part like Sally, with accent on the last syllable me, (just saw above poster made with accent I couldn't!) but not sure if that is the way you are or if it is a...

I think Christina is lovely, I'd spell it with a Ch. I don't care for Kylie at all, it seems trendy and not nearly as feminine or sparkly. There are SO many Kylies that are my oldest DD's age (she's...
I love it too, I have a Saoirse so Siofra seemed out/too similar this go around, but I think it is precious!

You're welcome, and just read your edited post,I agree with you that the raised eyebrows for those reasons are a good thing! Especially if those people chose names that were not your style. Thank...

Glad I could help, I truly believe if you love the name, and it has no major negative association for you (i.e. stripper, someone who is villainous, etc.) it will work out. If you are the one with...
1. Which of these names do you think is the most grown up/mature?
Bronwen ( Is it Bronwyn though?)
2. Which do you think is the most cutesy or childish?
3. Do any of these names have bad...
I actually find Seraphine less saccharin than Seraphina, and I think it is totally useable. I considered it myself but DH (as usual!) didn't care for it. I find it to be less predictable and a little...
I adore Rebecca, ever since the book/movie of Rebecca. and I like Grace but IMO it is too fillerish unless it has some other significance to you. Is there another name you absolutely love that you...

Don't second guess yourself if YOU love it. When I was preganant with DS#2 I stuck to my guns with the name even though my mother HATED it (Should never have shared it) and I am really happy I did....
