Uh oh -- I tried this out for an afternoon and the alternate name felt too right. I actually didn't see that one coming!
Thank you all for sharing your thoughts, I'm sure it'll pass :)

My daughter is nearly four weeks old. We had lists upon lists that we narrowed down, and then went in to delivery with a small handful of favorites for each sex. She was born in the middle of the...
Darn it, I just heard about this. Our boy front-runner is Caius. I wouldn't expect a popularity jump from Rachel Zoe, but the timing is suspect (due in <3 weeks).
Thank you for the suggestions! Caius Orlando and Caius Donovan stand out to me for flow.
I lean toward one- or three-syllable middles because our last name has two syllables (prefer 2-1-2 or 2-3-2 over 2-2-2).
Last name starts with M.
Due in a month! Thanks in advance for your...

Carolina - absolutely. Some may argue it depends on your region, which may add complications for cultural "rights" to the name.
Nadine - certainly usable.
Delilah - yes, love it. If I hadn't...
Love it. It vibes with Milo and Theo for me, which are other favorites.

For me, it would absolutely be too close... but I ruled out Nayeli because of a cousin Natalie, and Odile because of a cousin Ophelia. It all depends on your personal boundaries. I would be more...

Thanks for the feedback! It really helps to see how other people respond to options.
Mallopuff, lucydoo, thank you for the new suggestions!! I will run them by hubs to see what he thinks :)...

Suggestions would be so appreciated!
Ezri is currently in our top three, but we need some fresh insight for middles to pair with her.
Since Ezri is unisex, more unusual and cutesy/spunky, we'd...
I would stay away from one-syllable middles, but other than that, your options are pretty open! Middle choices depend so much on surname, background, region, etc. that it's hard to get unguided...

I don't look at names as usable or not, I look at them as wearable or not. Would I want to be named Heavynlie? No. I'd change my name.
If I were an employer, I would be highly likely to...
I like both a lot :) though with the Caspar spelling, I always say "cass-PAAAARR" in my head in a haughty voice, for whatever that's worth!
LOVE Caspian, in fact it's on our list (w/ the nickname Cass, which I also really love for a boy).
For me, middle choice entirely depends on last name. I have a 2-syllable last name but like a...

I like all your names quite a bit :) though I prefer Maisie to Maisy.
I also love Poppy as an alternate nickname for Penelope. Penny (and Pen as she gets older) is adorable. Let it be an...
Perhaps, though for whatever it's worth I read O-dee-leh (from midwest and west coast US). There is a throwaway "uh" or "eh" sound after the L.
Odile pronunciation: How to pronounce Odile in French...

I LOVE unusual names (our favorites are well out of the top 1000), but Belphoebe feels very clunky and smooshed to me. Like you loved Phoebe, but wanted it to be a bit more unique, so slapped a...
I'm liking Theron a lot (as well as Theoden, thank you so much for the suggestion, but I worry that I'm not a big enough LOTR fan to justify it).
Does Theron sound like a lisped Seren? My brain...
Agreed :) I think he gets painted with a bit narrower brush on the show, perhaps that's why, but I do think his conflict comes across even there.
Regardless though, I don't tend to discount names...
Thank you all for the ideas! It definitely helps.
As I said:

Oh my gosh, that is BRILLIANT! What a great idea, I think I'll try just that :)

I tried a variant of this, but the problem I'm having is that he's finding workarounds. He likes Ben, but Ben is so popular. So he suggest Benson, nn Ben. Which sort of solves the problem but...
I LOVE Theo, but Theodore makes me think of the chipmunk. The "dore" sound makes me think "adorable," which is awesome for a roly-poly baby, but I'd like something stronger sounding for an adult. ...

As is true of most people on NB, I've been developing my taste in names (and my list) for YEARS.
My sweet spot is with names that are uncommon/unusual/rare, but accessible. The kind that I would...
