I adore Jane. Jane is NOT plain -- she is classy, determines and headed to Harvard. That is what I think of when I hear Jane.
I know only one Jane who was a few years younger than me growing up....
Most popular names are popular for a reason -- they're great
names. All of the names you listed fall into that category. Each is gorgeous! Amelia is my very favorite.
I want my future children...

Hello! I hope my comments don't sadden you -- I just want you to have an accurate picture of what is going on in my little corner of the world.
I live in the Midwest, in Iowa's capital city. I...
I love the name Lewis! It was my great-grandfather's name. He had three sons with the following names:
He had a daughter named Lillian.
I feel like you need a name with...

Honestly, poison oak and poison ivy did NOT immediately pop into my head -- but now that I see the comments above, I can't stop thinking of ... itchiness.
I am sorry, but I have to agree with the...

Oh, mama! I am so sorry your parents torched your list.
If I were you, I would be very tempted to tell them you were starting completely over on names -- and then leaving lists around the house...

Of the names from your list, I love Amelia James.
I am absolutely OK with James used for a girl in the middle-name spot. I have a friend whose daughter's name is Stella James, and it fits her...

A friend of mine just named her newborn son:
This is not my style. It also seems like it could inspire some pretty awful nicknames. (Wasn't there a Dak or a Dax who dies...
Hello, fellow name lover!
I thought I would chime in: I am very sorry, but I do not think Aryan could ever be a name in the United States, certainly not in this century. Just hearing "Aryan"...

I very rarely think "OMG" or "WTF" when scrolling through the Nameberry forums.
I am much, MUCH more likely to think that when scrolling through my Facebook newsfeed or local birth announcments....
I don't know if this tidbit will tip you toward one spelling or the other, but here goes: Vera Wang's oldest daughter is named Cecilia. Her second daughter is Josephine. When it comes...

My husband and I are TTC and are in "like"
with many baby names.
However, lately I feel more and more attached to Augusta. Is it useable in 2014/15 in the United States? I am loving it!
Oh, I adore Emilia! It is at the top of my own list.
Here are some complementary names to pass along. Be sure to let us know what your friend decides -- or better yet, tell her to join Nameberry....
Hello, mama! I am 100 percent confident in your baby-naming ability: both Estella and Clementine are gorgeous. (Estella has always been one of my top picks, but my husband isn't convinced.)

How about these? I hope you find just what you are looking for, even if some of these might not be true Medieval names. Not positive in these, but here is my attempt:
*Amabel (Yes, with...
Opal Everly is divine! Congratulations!
I love Henry -- it has a certain honest, earthy tone to it. It's a classic.
Henry was the extremely responsible, compassionate oldest brother in "The Boxcar Children," which was my favorite book...

I think both Jonas and Jonah are extremely useable, although I wish there were fewer connections to the pop music world.
When I hear Jonas, I think of Jonas Salk, the American who invented the...
Oh, the difference one little letter can make!
I think of Nora as a creative, intelligent woman who enrolls in a study abroad program as soon as she is old enough, who loves music, books and...
Disney ruined Ursula. I am sorry.
Sorry! Lydia with a nickname of Lyddie! So sweet.
I am sorry, but I agree with the others. Eunice looks all right on paper, but saying it aloud just isn't pretty. It would be a heavy burden for a child or an adult to carry, I fear.
I have always...

Pearl is my absolute FAVORITE! It suggests class and whimsy, strength and beauty. I have only met one child in my entire life named Pearl. Love it, love it, love it!
My least favorite is Birdie. I...
Early congratulations, mama! Your choice is an angelic, yet strong one.
I tend to be very picky about spellings (I work as an editor), so here are my 2 cents.
I would go with the traditional...
