Spyridon Sherlock was a name that intrigued me.

Here's some other responses. http://nameberry.com/nametalk/threads/162053-Names-that-lose-appeal-when-spoken
I had Maizee on my list for a long time, just recently falling off. I adore the name, but the spelling looks odd to me. Yes, I know I don't spell it the traditional way either, but looking at...

I strongly prefer the flow of Augustus Finn.

My son's name came from a dream. I also dreamt that a friend of mine who had passed wanted me to name my daughter Avarae Malisiah. (Probably sounds better than it looks).
:/ at some point, they were as well. Unless, of course, there was a book left for the first speaking members of human race that had a base language with meanings.
1- I find that people tend to want to stay within boundaries for names-using "unique" names that were bequeathed to thousands of other children that same year.
2- I have used names I made up. On...

I'll participate. I'll go with the child's name that has the most story. :)
Name: Revvie Adessie
Story: One day while pregnant, I was watching the movie Higher Learning. Still baffled on a name, I...

I really like the name Maple. It's on my short list. I find it a softer, more modern version of Mabel. I'm also a big fan of 2/3 or 3/2 combos-so from your list, I like Maple Beatrice.
For a helpful response-I am part South African as well. Here's the 2013 top names for each gender....

Joette-a combo of grandparents' names, alternative to Joelle
Revvie-derived by changing Remy up, apparently a nn for...

Hmm, while it's a name for a potential child-I would say it's free to use if not for the fact the person you came up with it with is still around. Had it been thought of with someone you don't see...

I strongly lean towards Aria Violet Dolhanyk and Claire Juliet Dolhanyk. Aria continues to Violet, where as Aria Juliet stops, not flowing as well. To me, the V softens following the a, but becomes...

For me, it would be Emerson. Love the name, adore the literary tie, but I don't trust in the name enough towards one gender.
I totally understand. From the age of 13, I had my little girl's name-Arianna Monique. I loved the flow, the femininity of it. Years later, pregnant with my first (a girl), I knew of three Ariannas....

I had two names come to me in dreams-Avarae (Av-uh-ray) and my son's name, Zabryn (zab; rhymes with cab, rin as in rin-tin-tin). Looking on fb-I found one other kid named Zabryn. Haven't comes across...
