I prefer the Alistair spelling, but the original spelling of Alasdair is a close second. I adore this name and it's been on my list for ages. My only concern is that people will pronounce it...
These are amazing. Ones I really liked were Sorenna, Cairafen, Rhoswen, Caerian, Lystiria, Winera, Cadmor, Braithmael, Asterin.

At first, I had only ever connected the name to the HP character. Now my association has since changed to the star as I see the name more and more on NB.

This is definitely true.
I prefer the spellings Margaux and Margo. Everytime I see the Margot spelling I keep trying to pronounce the silent "T" at the end.
