I've only heard Marcy used as a nickname for Marcia and Marcella, and it does seem to follow more naturally from those two because Martha lacks the c. But why not? I think it works for Martha too.

I'm in the US and am most interested in how popular they'll become here, but but am also interested in this on a global level. I'm aware that Imogen is already quite trendy in the UK and wonder how...
While I don't hate this category, I'm totally with you in finding them interchangeable and without substance - meh! I don't think I love any a-ending, a-beginning names, now that I think about it....
My most-hated names fluctuate along with my most-loved.
Right now, Amelia - seeing it everywhere lately, but not on board with the love. I can't perceive it as the stately vintage name (or...

Olive is the one that made me wonder if a line has been crossed and if we're perhaps trying to revive too many names, or confusing vintage with beautiful/classic/usable in some cases. There are...

Imogene/Imogen - I'd always liked this name but had only heard it on characters until recently.
Matilda - same
Eloise - also the same
Jayden - Sounds like a sci-fi name (and is, in fact,...

Eamon - it's alright
Willem - will constantly be confused with William, as it's so close
Egan - Interesting... I may prefer Egon, though
Valen - cool
Tolan- this one's a family name by the way -...

Blair, Blythe, Sloane, Neve, Greer, Gwen, Eve, Leigh, Faye, Lynn, Wynne, Dawn, Fawn
Ashley is the more classic version (as classic as a unisex surnamey name can get) and Ashleigh looks more trendy and complicated.
I prefer Ashley because it's shorter/easier to spell and also...
When it comes to green names, I'd rather be Kelly, Emerald, and maybe even Midori, Hunter, Teal - or even Chartreuse - than Olive.
I prefer Olivia to Olive and Olivier to Oliver. Honestly, Olive...
A few of these are some of the more unusual names among the pool of people I worked with at libraries, and some simply come to mind:
Tansy (as a nod to Pansy, as in Parkinson, without being so literal) popped into my head for you.
Bellatrix was always my favorite name from the series, so I understand where you're coming from. I...

IMO, Vivian is the way to go unless you're French or living in a French-speaking area: it's not ambiguous when it comes to pronunciation in English and lacks unnecessary letters. Vivien Leigh's...
Brooke by far! Its sound is more distinctive among the pool of popular names today and it's a solid choice. Brinley sounds made-up and will blend in with all the other made-up sounding -lee names.
Oriana Maude and Lucius Reginald (sorry, I was lazy and copied your boy's initial pattern :D).
What do you think of these? I'm trying to think of more names with a similar feel, preferably ones that haven't been as overused but are still at least somewhat familiar. Suggestions? This is...

I prefer Carla because Carly seems the more nicknamey of the two, but both are nice!

Heh. I sometimes feel like I'm the only one who dislikes Kate, Katherine, Rose, Sophia (which is not even as "classic" as people say, although I do love the meaning) and a bunch of "classic" Biblical...

Not a fan of most double-barrel names. But does Hannelore count? I actually prefer it to Hannah.

Most of the names I hear on real kids are fairly to extremely popular and "classic"/vintage-sounding: Avas, Olivias, Elijahs, etc. The girls' names tend to be more conservative, on the whole, so I...

Lofton is my first choice. It's distinctive and tough-sounding enough to work on a female trucker.

I voted for Lillian, but I would have picked Emily if it had been on this poll.
