We're probably going with Calpurnia with the nickname Cali/Callie. Another Cali name is Calliope.
Names of places:
Catalina (island off of L.A.)
Avalon (town on Catalina island)
Lux makes me think of Lex Luther, and Nox sounds too masculine. I don't mind finding something that sounds different from Nyx.
We're pretty much decided on Calpurnia as a first name, nn "Callie". We had decided on Nyx as a middle name. My husband LOVES Nyx, but my mom said it sounds like the lice shampoo brand Nix. I'm...
Meriwether/Merryweather? "One with a sunny disposition"
This name is in our top 4. If we do use it, we plan to nickname her Elsie.

My husband and I both like the idea of "darker" names. For example, our cats' names are Raven and Anathema. We're not goth or anything, but we like something with a little bit of a rebellious...
Autumn! Sylvie sounds middle-aged to me, maybe because the only Sylvies I know are in their 50s. Tabitha is ok, but I think Autumn is prettier.
I was going to suggest Philippa as well. I've seen a movie where the character was named Philippa nn Pippa, which I thought was cute.
My name is Ariane, that's a possibility! Or Marianne. I like Annika a lot too.
I prefer Ivy. My vote goes for Ivy Elise!

I'm glad to hear a few people like Calpurnia! It's definitively different from mainstream (unlike Eloise), but still sweet and elegant and feminine and not too weird. I think Gabrielle & Calpurnia...

Funny, I asked this forum about doing Noa Nyx or Juno Nyx because my husband REALLY liked Nyx as a middle name, but I received a pretty unanimous no. Glad to hear someone likes it!
We really liked...
I'm partial to Gabrielle, because that's my daughter's name :)
My favorite would be Gabrielle and Juliette. Gabriella and Liliana is also pretty!

I liked Aurora Daisy the best, but I don't like the alliteration between the middle name and the last name. I definitively love Aurora the best though!

Yes, Eloise was our first and only choice for a good long while. It is perfect for us in many ways, but ultimately we decided to explore other options because I'm already getting sick of all the El-...

We finally agreed on 4 combos. We'll probably take all 4 to the hospital and see which fits her little face the best, but I'm just curious which is favored with this crowd! Big sister is Gabrielle...
I like Emmeline Darcy best as well. Darcy Noelle sounds nice too.
Thanks, I'm loving Anthea! And my husband didn't shoot it down, so hurray! Definitively going on the list :)

I would never personally consider it because it's not really my style, but I love Verity!
I like Elsa too, but I'd be afraid of the popularity factor of El- names right now. It does sound lovely...

I love Nora and Harper out of your choices, and I second Willow and Juniper!
How about Adair or Nova?
I prefer Lucy. Lucie makes me think of an old lady, Lucy looks more cute and modern. I can see you'd want them to match in spelling though, I had the same problem when I was considering Elsie to...

Oops, looks like I should have read until the end before replying!! Makayla Joy is a lovely choice!

I wouldn't put them together as a first name & middle name combo, but I think for siblings it's perfect!
That's so weird, I just posted about the exact same thing! I was looking for alternative for Rhea, my grandma's name as well. I like Rya but I was afraid it sounded too made-up, or Rheane but I'm...
