I am not a fan of Clarence, although it is a family name (one great uncle).
I think it has some currency, strictly as a boy's name, in the African American community. Outside of that, it does not...

I can't help loving Ava Grace despite huge popularity. Think about it carefully before you discard this choice. Yes, there are genuine issues with popular names -- but not all parents regret giving...

Not too Harry Potter, but posting from the Great Basin (Rocky Mountains, U.S.), it does seem a bit too snooty Brit. But if Snooty Brit is what you are after -- you are probably on the right trail. In...
I like the European pronunciation best -- eye-REE-nee. That tweaks it from fusty to cute for me. If you are in the States, you are going to have trouble getting others on board with saying it...
Too many 's's, it seems to me. I like pairing a girly-girl name with a unisex or even boys' name, but I am not sold right now on this one.
One criticism -- for me it sounds as though it is maiden...
Thank you everyone for the thoughtful responses. I was cheered by all the encouragement -- maybe it is not as crazy as I thought.
I have tried on some other middle names in my brain, but...
I still like Rose in the middle, even though I know that has become taboo. I like Clementine -- yeah -- I'm one of those. :) But I assumed that Clementine Rose just wouldn't work, even though I...

Riley and Jameson (or any last name first that has significance for your family and you like, a maiden name, grandparent's name, etc.)
Riley and Beau (Beaumont, Beauford)
Riley and Zander
By the way, I clipped from Nameberry's take on Ariel:
Although its wave has crested, Ariel is still a name any little girl would love. It is also associated with the poetry of Sylvia Plath and...
I second Ariella! Hear, hear!
I do know an Ariel, however -- a niece-in-law. I thought her name was a delightful surprise. I have no doubt from her age that her mom was inspired by the Little...
Absolutely! I get bored with names, move on -- or sometimes I meet someone who ruins a name for me. And then I fall in love with new names.
I used to love Chloe -- and while I still do, I think it...

Hear hear. Melusine is magic. Think "Possession." And if you haven't read it -- READ IT! Mermaids are Aphrodite's true followers! Aphrodite, you know, was born of the sea.
Melusine is -- ...
If you like unisex, would you consider Emerson, Elliot, or Mirren? For me, all your picks are girls' names -- especially Ashley and Addison. Also, I adore nns, and that leaves you with Addy -- which...
So cute. Love the eyes -- and his name.
Cute as a button!

I love Jasper -- so I as surprised that was not my choice, but with August and an 's' last name, I like Eli best. I do like your style altogether -- some of my favorite boys' names.
I love Seamus! Yes, you are going to have to help some people with pronunciation, but it is a name that could well be worth the trouble. I also think it is going to pick steam soon (but not rise to...
My favorites (and rather opposites) are:
But Emmeline, Gemma, and Jemima are all working well.

Jasper is my favorite boys' name -- so there. Now you can guess my vote.
I don't think the repeating sounds should be such an issue. Like alliteration -- sometimes that works well.

I know this is the Anything But Names forum, but I can't help wondering -- how do you think being an "alternative" mom affects the names you like? What would say are some alternative names?
I had a Great Aunt Ida -- so I have never been able to reimagine it on a child. I am -- however -- in the grandma range, and parents today don't usually have such strong associations with it as a...
Rose (I know. I know. Everyone else thinks it has become a cliché!)
I much prefer Avery to Aubrey, so that narrowed it down. Then I am not nuts about Jean so I went with Avery Elise. I struggled a bit with the slurring of the e sounds, but decided I like it overall....
I adore Nora -- is it on my favorites list -- so that makes it easy.
If you love Violet, however, I think her being teased about VJ is very far-fetched. Do you mean VJ -- as in Victory over Japan?...
Short answer -- no.
Long answer -- no.
