Gale for a boy is cool, I don't think it sounds too feminine. Few girls (or even women) are named Gail these days. And Gale is kind of like the boys name Dale, so it has a boyish sound to my ear.

Avery sounds like a girl's name to me, it just sounds feminine to my ear. It's also a name I could easily see taking off in popularity for a girl name. Just my honest opinion.
