For a male, yes, for a female, no.
Wrote a post on it in the past, praising it.
Virginia, Virginie, Ginger, Ginny, Ginia, Ginnie, Gina, Gin, has many nickname options.
A name with spine and femininity both.

Yep. Too much, though all three names are great on their own.
George and Linus are fine, but I think Beauregard needs to be used with something strong and plain and only one middle name.
I prefer Vivien.
Vivien reminds me of Vivien Leigh whereas Miriam reminds me of my former aunt, a large earth mother.
Vivian is light and sparkling whereas Miriam sounds cavernous to me.
I think it is lovely!
(this is in addition to my daughter in heaven, Cordelia Elizabeth Marjorie)
Wow, I almost thought this was an April Fools because Felix and Axel are about as different as night and day.
Felix is a happy nice name and Axel to me is horrific, so I would stick with Felix!
Jemima is one of my favorite names of all time!
Love the name for a cat. Pretty hard on a little girl unless she looks like a supermodel and even then...
i have only known one who must be about 19 0r 20 now, but I think a million of them are lurking out there.
#1 tie for Edmund and Jasper
#2 tie for Oliver, August, Magnus
#3 tie for Felix
Henry is nice but too common, Ignatius is ugly to me, and Sebastian is overused.
I prefer Esme, but Esmeralda seems usable. I like Esperanza too.
I adore Araminta and Minty, as well as Amity, Aminta, and Mint.
It is romantic and womanly and old-fashioned yet because of "mint" it feels fresher than say, Arabella or Anastasia.
If I had...
Julep is one of the coolest words ever, a tasty drink, and a great name for a dog.
But that's as far as it goes.

Am not big on numbers, but tied for #1 are:
Gideon, Ferris, Isaac, and Caleb.
So-so tie: Enoch, Alec
Tied for last place: Levi, Emmett, Nolan, Asher
I like Gideon Ferris or Gideon Isaac best
Colin Reginald is a PERFECT name in my view!

Wilhelmina is one of my favorite of all female names!
It is strong and resolute (hard to imagine a Wilhelmina who would let herself be stomped on!) and yet is multi-syllabic and ends with an a.
I prefer both names with two n's.
Johanna seems prettier to me than Frances. I also heartily dislike Fran.
Bronwen feels a bit dated to me as I have taught many over the years. Also Bronwen and John rhyme a bit whereas John and Vivian sounds like a classic combo.

George or Bailey from It's a Wonderful Life
Oak or Oakley

My favorite is Gilbert, but there's also Gillespie.

I am very sorry about your in-laws. It makes me appreciate mine more.
However, there is nothing you can do about people like that. You can ignore them or tell them off. Me, I would do the...
