OP - I think it's fine to have a conversation with her letting her know that you have your heart set on "Millie."
But, I don't think it's okay to do that at her baby shower.
While I agree that these are traditional Celtic or Gaelic spellings of Irish names and not necessarily "youneek" spellings,, I cannot imagine that most Americans would ever pronounce these correctly...
