Catherine, nickname Cricket?
You're right -- both Vera Rose and Vera Rosalie sound better than Vera Rosemary. I just prefer Rosemary, though the sound part now bothers me a little. :)
I LOVE Tate!
We are supposed to answer a question then ask our own, to be answered by the next person.
So my question is:
Do you prefer Sandra, Sondra, Alessandra, Cassandra, Cassandre, or...
Between Vera Waters and Sadie Waters, I would definitely prefer to be named Vera Waters.
Vera is classic and timeless and strong.
Sadie is a cute name but not in a league with Vera.
These are all good choices.
I do think it's a good question to ask ourselves as we contemplate naming our own daughters. There are a number of names I am wild over that I would HATE to be named...
I like all three.
Corinne seems sweet. Florence I do think of Ma Brady on The Brady Bunch but I like it OK. Mary is a good solid name.
I'd go with Mamie, Beulah, Jemima, Dinah, Bess, Bessie --- I LOVE all those names.
PS Someone suggested Birdie, the name of my distant ancestor and I love it too. Ada and Ida as well.
Love it! Nice nature meaning.
I would choose Geneva today. I've long loved it for its freshness, a kind of alpine vitality. Geneva sounds like someone who would travel and have adventures.
My nickname would be Neva.
These all sound like fluoride to me.
How about Forsythia, the gorgeous yellow shrub?
I would hate hate hate to be named Carter myself, but who knows how your daughter to be will feel.
I don't think it is stupid. I just don't like it, but to each her own.
Galen seems to me a name of great beauty and strength.
It also has that -en or -in ending so popular in male names but sounds nothing like Jayden/Caden.
I love its nicknames too.

I was born in the early 60's and grew up thinking I would change my name to my husband's.
Or what I really mean is that I didn't think that at all; it was just what everybody I knew did so it...

Owen Henry is the only one that sounds right to me though the other names are just fine.
We named our unborn son Owen Michael Russell which I love.

Love Mischa or Misha, hate Judah which sounds like Judas. Jude is fine though maybe overused.
I love some wild names lately -- Meteor, Jupiter, Mojave, Millard, Talon, Gannet -- but this one horrifies me. I just read it as lighter. Sorry!

Hayes sounds stuffy to me and very few names do (I even like Millard and Fillmore!).
It also sounds like the word haze, as in smoggy fog or fraternity hazing. To me, I mean.
Radwin sounds like...

How about Orkney, Skye, Mull, Lewis, or Hebrides?
I'm of Scottish ancestry too!
Love love love it! :)
I love birds, so I do like Talon. Great word. A bit edgy though.
I also love Heron or Crane which are far less edgy.
Of your combinations, I like Talon Frazier best. The other two are fine,...
I love love LOVE Belinda! :)
It sounds to me like a sprightly dance, a waltz.
And such nicknames!
To OpheliaFlora: Flora is a favorite of mine too. Somehow I hear a one syllable middle, something like Flora Grace, though not necessarily Grace, just something short and to the point. Like Flora...
