I think you find Alistair feminine in the same way I find Ezra to be feminine, the 1st time I hear the name I was a child and assumed it was a girl name so it will always sound that way to me : )

I think if you love Emerald then use it but why not save Gordon for a possible future son? I just think it is such a strong male name, I can't think of any girl that would want it for a name...

The 1st Shannon (not sure of the spelling) I ever knew was a boy so to me it was a boys name...then I grow up and found out it was mainly a "girl" name . I think perspective has a lot to do with it....
