I have wondered about the same thing, and I found a research article that studied how accurate these scans are. In this study, they looked at what ultrasound techs predicted the gender was a 17 weeks...
I love the name Emily :). I like Lucy as a sister for Emily, but Jessica feels dated to me. From your list, I also love Amelia, but Emily and Amelia are a little too similar in sound.
If you don't love any "G" names, don't force yourself to use one. I think Spencer Noah is great, and it sounds like it has lots of meaning for you!

Out of curiosity, what names were laughed at by your students?
I definitely think that Ryder and Wilder are too close :(
How about Ryder and...
Faline Lea - Not sure how I feel about Faline...is it pronouced fay-leen or faw-leen? Either way, this is a bit of a tongue twister.
Violet Ruth - I wouldn't have thought pair Violet with Ruth, but...

I like the name Asher. My only reservation is that it has recently shot up in popularity and feels trendy despite being a classic name. I wouldn't be surprised if most non-name nerds don't know about...

That is not fair for him to veto all your choices without coming up with any of his own. It is up to him to find a name he loves, not you. Tell him the baby's name will be Lucias or Merrill unless he...

Y'all, I am snowed in and bored. So naturally I am playing with baby names. I tried to think of my current favorite girl name for every letter of the alphabet, but I am stuck on some. The names in...
I agree with pp that Wesley Ronan and Ronan Wesley are both great combos!
I love the description of "modern Southern." Here are some others I think fit in that category:

Aurelia nn Auri is my favorite. So gorgeous! Claire and Evangeline are also very nice. Lola has too much of a seductress association for me (i.e. Lola Montez)...I wouldn't use it.
Wow, that's neat site!
laniepace, first of all, I think you should focus on the positives...you and your husband have agreed on a first name for a girl. That is huge! The middle name is a minor...

I picked Beatrice, but Margaret is a close second. Both are great classic names with good nickname options. The others are not really my style.
Eliza is hands-down my favorite Elizabeth nn. Actually, I like Eliza enough to use it as a stand alone name, which could also be a good way to honor an Elizabeth.
A couple other nn I love from...
I love the name Bennett! What is his middle name??
For a brother, Bennett and...
Charles nn "Charlie"

I don't know the story of your first son's name, but I don't think it would be a terrible thing to throw some guilty pleasures on your top 10 lists to make your real favorites look more appealing to...

Ok, some random things about me: I am from the Southeast USA. I have light brown curly hair and hazel eyes. I am a health-nut, and I love running and hot yoga. I am in my mid-twenties, married, and...
