Love your naming style. Frederick and Solomon were on our last for our last boy....
Also in Oz so I get your concern re: nicknames.
My first pick would be Solomon nn Mannie (if you don't like...
I vote 'yes' (or I will in a minute:))...
But if you don't both like it, keep looking. It is possible to find a name you're both happy with even though it sometimes doesn't feel like it. If...
Mum to a six month old Boaz here :) My Boaz is sweet, cuddly, smiley and very active. He has dark hair, big blue eyes and two cute little teeth... We love his name. He's always Boaz, never Bo. In...
I love Solomon. We had it on the short-list for our fourth son :-) It's handsome, strong and a little quirky. I think both of your mn options are good. slightly prefer Solomon Wolf.

Your taste is eclectic, which I can relate to :)
Obviously I love Roscoe!
I've posted in the birth announcements, but wanted to pop over here and say a big thank you to the berries who gave their thoughts and advice in my previous posts about naming our fourth son.
We are really happy to announce the arrival of Boaz Geoffrey Mekonnen on 4th July, 2013. Big brothers Gebriael, Roscoe and Cormac are thrilled to bits :)
I wanted to say thanks so much to the...

Seems pretty split between the two names!

Wow, southern.maple, you've really nailed how I feel about my boys' names and also how I feel about Boaz... and I agree it's a fabulous bridge between them all. Up until about a month ago, it was...

Well, we're down to Boaz, Soren, Severin and Owsin. DH feels the others on our original list that we agreed to are too 'familiar' to the general public and so they're out.
I love Alistair!
Forgive repeats :)

Interested to hear people's thoughts and reasons... Gebriael is the Ethiopian form of Gabriel and is pronounced with a short 'e' as in 'bed'.
Thanks in advance :)
Oh, I feel your pain at having a 2-syllable 'uhs' ending surname - we've struck many off our list because of the hissy, rhymey problem! If you love Linus, I honestly think it would be OK in the MN...
Do you have any criteria at all? Initials to avoid? Sounds you don't like?
I see you have Luca on your list, but not others that end in 'o' - are you leaning towards continuing your 'ending with...

I like Maxwell best, although Max is very popular where I live... I also think Maxim is a great, quirky way to get to Max
Asher is very popular in my corner of Australia, but for girls... with...

Thanks so much for your responses.
@sweetpeace13 - Thanks so much - Soren, Heath and Bram are all getting a lot of love!
@ellieberry - Thankyou for your kind words :) I've added a lot of your...
Googling tells me Regis Philbin is a talkshow host or something?
My honest opinion is that regardless of any association with public figures (and you need to decide if it bothers you or not :))...

Thanks again for reponses... I have replied individually in the previous post.
This is where we are:
Boaz is not totally off the table, but the discussion is now open again...

Thanks everyone for your responses :) Sorry it's taken me so long to respond, for some reason Nameberry was jacking up at me replying on my phone and then wouldn't let me respond when I logged in on...
I'm not sure how to pronounce it... BAY-lee-an??
I think Balian William Lennon is very 'l' heavy...
I think Bay William Lennon is very handsome though - is Bay not an option on it's own??
Another vote for Alonzo James, followed by Leon and then Lucas... I just think Lucas is way too popular.
Only question: if the three of you have the same initials, will you feel compelled to look...
FWIW, I love Bay as a stand alone, but I totally understand the need to play to your DH's preferences also...
Of the top of my head:
Bayou (I know, the 'Bay' part isn't...
I'm in the minority, I guess, because I think it's fine... At some point, people are going to have to deal with the fact that names like Draco, Hermione, Lucius etc were names long before JK Rowling...

I posted a few weeks ago with a dilemma DH and I were having around naming our fourth son Boaz, specifically surrounding the nickname Bo and our surname (sounds like Day-vus) sounding a...
This! and in answer to your original question: yes, it's totally normal. we were discussing names on way to the hospital to be induced at 41wks with DS#2 :) Hang in there and good luck.
