Franklin and Washington are the most quintessentially American names to me. Where did they get married. The US is a big country. If you're looking at a specific region it's going to be easier to come...
When I hear Blair I think of the actor, Blair Underwood.

I say Emma- LINE. I'm American which might be a factor.
If you want it pronounce with a short i I vote for double barrel: Emma Lynn. To me, that looks like the name you want. Emmalyn looks like...

My birthday is December 22nd and it never bothered me as a child. If anything, my family over compensated and my birthday was a bigger deal than anyone else's.
My husbands BIL has a December 25th...

My sister is pescatarian and is raising her boys that way. They are 7 and 10 and the healthiest kids I've ever met. She didn't eat any differently when she was pregnant than she does the rest of the...

I'm due June 4th. I'm absolutely miserable from the "morning" sickness but we get our first ultrasound on Tuesday so that will be fun!

Take a look at the SSA stats for your state. I've found that can really change your perspective. For example, Declan is 73 spots higher in Massachusetts than it is on the national list.

For my sister-in-law it was very important to her that her kids' names were common enough to find on plastic novelties and classic enough to not become "Grandma names". She used the SSA list to find...

I teach students born in 2002 and 2003. Of the 56 students in the grade we have:
In one class we also have one each of Kaylee, Kailin, and Katie. Somehow...

I'd love to see all the boys names that have become girls names get reclaimed (at least partially).

Henry. Since I was a little girl I've loved the name Henry. Now I'm pregnant and it's in the top 50 and rising. :-(
I would say that Eva is a classic that is trendy right now. It's gone up 275 spot in the past 15 years but it never got that low. I pronounce Eva with a long E and Evelyn with a short E so Evie...

The case is different for each name.
Felix- my sister used it. I wouldn't ask her because she'd tell me it was ok even if it wasn't. But Luke is 10 so I could totally ask him and use his opinion as...
I've encountered three Merricks in that past week! One spelled Merrick, one Marek and one was while I was walking down the street so I don't know the spelling.

I've some "oh, that's.... nice?" reactions to friends and family's choices but nothing like Mykynleigh. I'm not sure I'd be able to stay polite if I was caught off guard with that. On the other hand,...

My husband and I are both the youngest and as a result we have a lot of nieces and nephews.
Obviously we can't/won't use names that have already been used as first names. (I have 6 month old niece...

I've only known one male Ashley. He's about 30 and loves his name. If you were super concerned about it you could use Asher Lee and call him Ashley as a nickname.
It is much more common for girls...

I love Ezra Jude. Actually, I love both but it doesn't seem like Nicholas fits your criteria. It's a very traditional name and Nick <Italian Last Name> is particularly common.
I would think that...

I love Rosemary (or Rosemarie) but my husband is adamant that he doesn't like flower names. My aunt was also always cooking and feeding people (her recipes that are still in use are part of why she's...

I'd use the hyphens for clarity's sake.
In the US double barrel names are fairly common southern tradition. I suppose it depends on the names but if I see a double barrel name I assume the family...
I think Clara-Grace is too close. At least one of her names should be entirely her own.
Do you pronounce Clara -Clair-a Or Cl-R-a? I think that makes a difference on whether the names are too close...

As a student teacher I once spent two hours running around fixing paper work for a little Rowan (she'd be in 2nd grade now) who had gone into the system as a boy. It was a nightmare to fix. It never...

Um, I love them all?
Magnolia- I love flower names and this unusual enough to be quirky without being confusing. Also, if she decided she wanted something more mainstream Maggie is nice option....

My husband and I both have/had grandmothers named Margaret. Neither of them is someone we would want to name a baby after.
We would like to name a baby after my other grandmother, Evelyn. This...
