I was digging through family history records today and I knew my grandfather's name was Jan, and that he was from Holland, but I was curious about my ancestors further back. I found out that his...
Hate to say it, but all alternate spellings look truly awful to me.
Michaela looks lovely, and more importantly, like her parents know how to spell.
I think a lot of people think a creative...

Okay, so my sister has this theory that there are 5 categories of girl name endings: -lyn, -ey, -ette, -er, and -a. (I submit that there are at least 5 more, but she is stubborn and only cares for...

Hahaha I think the consensus is no to Salinger. Thanks, guys!
To be honest, I'm not a Salinger fan...But I always thought it was pronounced Salinger like "Saline-ger" and just heard it pronounced...

Thanks, everyone, for your opinions! :)
I've always loved Oquirrh, but only with that spelling. It loses its magic for me when it's spelled differently, but you're right, unless she lived in Utah...

...to name a boy Salinger?

Wow, seriously? Because it's a word in a language you personally don't speak, it's gibberish? Nice. This comment isn't helpful at all.
I'm grateful for all the opinions, but curious about the ones...

Okay I posted a whole ago mentioning that I'm considering a Mormon-culture name for a future child...what are your thoughts on this?
Oquirrh is a goshute word, but also the name of a gorgeous...
I know it seems gothic with the Addams association, but the name sounds so sunny and spunky to me.
Kids these days probably don't know who the Addams family even are, so idk how much of a concern...
I actually didn't know the story, so I was just meh on the name. I like the sound but am not fond of how it looks.
My favorite version of Faye is Fae; I like the connection to fairies, I think it...

I live literary names, especially ones that are obviously literary without being in-your-face about it
I am crushing on Lennox for a boy or girl, and I love the nn Jem for a boy. I love Jasper...
I prefer pp's suggestion of Nash Hendrix.
Please, please, don't spell it Hyndrix. It isn't cute or clever, it'll just make you look illiterate.

Not a fan for either gender. It's obviously a boy name to me, but all I think of is the character Emery on Stephen King's Rose Red, and his awful mother and the annoying way she calls his name.

I picture Dakota Fanning, and I picture a working class family who are close-knit, but don't have much besides each other. I picture a blonde, blue-eyed precocious little girl with worn out sneakers...
This is weird, I literally just came to the girls forum to make a thread exactly like this!
I love the name Xanthe, but can't decide if it's worth using the name when I hate the letter X so much....
If you know me from around the forums, you'll know I am uncomfortable giving away personal information on such a public forum (I do wish these were private forums that you could only see if you...
I've seen kids made fun of for their names, but it was always kids that were picked on anyway. Popular kids with the same name had no problems, and I knew a lot of popular kids with unusual names who...
I have a sometimes-crush on this name, and am wondering what impressions others have of it?

You'll probably have to rule out any name that defaults to pink on this site and sick with those that default to yellow or blue. That's probably limiting, but just looking through the thread, Emerson...

Maybe it's just me, but all the names in the thread title seem misspelled to me. My brain immediately wants to correct them to Orrin, Orson, and Olan, which makes me like all of the names. With the...
I like all of these, just wanting to see in numbers what others like the best.
Right now I'm crushing on Clementine and Leone (Lee-own), but I've also considered Clementine and Sparrow, or...

When I picture naming my future kids, I can easily picture Clementine or Artemis on girls, but would they work on sisters, or am I pretty much limited to one or the other?
Can you describe what...

I love love these names, but Ezra is the name of a character I hate on Pretty Little Liars, and it's beginning fairly popular, so I might have to shelve that for a while.
August is gorgeous, and I...
Something you may want to be aware of is that the douchey guys who haunt the internet complaining about the friendzone and proclaim themselves "men's rights activists," make rape jokes, and draw My...
