We welcomed our daughter Rachel Naomi on January 14! I haven't been as active on Nameberry lately but I did post several months ago asking for advice on her middle name. We chose Naomi because we...

What about Nella? I think it would still have that simplicity you love (I do, too!) and Nella Twiss flows a little better than Nell Twiss. I think Eleanor could work too.
Lucy short for Lucia or...

Thanks so much for all the suggestions!! I keep coming back to judyariel's suggestion of Rachel Evelyn- when I read that Evelyn meant "wished-for child" I just melted. We'll probably keep thinking on...
Also, if you love Emily, go for it! I don't think anyone would revoke your name nerd...
I would also pronounce it "Ree- ANN-nen."
I think I'd pick "unusual and interesting"- I think this name has a lot of personality! Rhia and Rhi are cute nicknames.
I would pronounce both as "eh-VAN-nuh" and "eh-VAN-gel-ine."
Maybe the difference in pronunciation is regional? I'm from the mid-atlantic U.S., if that helps :)

We're excitedly expecting a little girl that needs a middle name! My husband and I chose Rachel for our daughter's first name but can't come up with a middle name that we both love. So...
I think Cora is beautiful! I've never met an older Cora, only a couple in the toddler set (and of course there's Lady Cora on Downton Abbey). Go for it! It's lovely.

We've been calling ours "Flipper" since the first ultrasound, since s/he was moving around a LOT. Was moving even more at the second ultrasound. I still can't feel the baby kick, but if ultrasounds...
I like momof374's suggestion of pairing it with a feminine middle name- that's exactly what sprang to mind when I read Sloane. Or Sloane could be a middle name to balance a long, feminine first...

Good ideas- thank you! I really like Virginia Claire as a combo, and now I've got Josephine and Eliza turning over in my head too... they sound like sweet girls names, but very classic too.
I like Scarlett Rose, Scarlett Jane, Scarlett Diane, Scarlett Eve.
Scout is a cute nickname for Scarlett!

I joined Nameberry a while ago as a writer looking for character names- and then my husband and I discovered we're going to have a baby to name, too! I'm due July 4. We haven't found...

I know three Jillians (all with a J)- one is 26, one is 21, and one is 3. All three are very creative, bubbly, sweet people. I've always loved the name and I think it sounds beautiful with Rowan!

I really like the rhythm when the second name is one syllable- I love Ava-Claire the most, to be honest! Others from your list that I like are Ava-Jayne, Ava-Kate, Ava-Mae and Ava-Joy.
I know one boy Dylan and one girl Dylan, one 6 and one 3. I prefer it as a boy's name, but if paired with a feminine middle name I think it works for a girl.

I've always thought it was beautiful- it's one of my absolute favorite names. The only associations I really have with it would be the herb, and just generally being a sweet girl's name.
I've gone back and forth on this- my married surname is one of the most common surnames in the U.S., so when my husband and I talked about possible future kids' names, I always pushed for what was...

The color association was the first thing that stuck out to me- and I could see it being something that could be a BIG deal. Which I completely hate to say, because I'm in the camp of "name your kid...

I love your list! My top 2 for each gender would be:
Henry Atticus (LOVE) and Nathaniel Ridge
Charlotte Austen and Scarlett Eliza

Congratulations on your baby girl!! The name is not my style, but I'm a big believer in "if you love it, go for it!" No name is going to be universally liked- I'd so much rather have a name my...
I think it completely makes sense, especially if you already "go by" a middle name or nickname more than your legal name. One of my relatives was given the same first name as her mother and was...
I like Ellen better than Gray as a middle name- I agree that Gray sounds more like a placeholder name. As a middle name, Ellen flows well with a lot of names- I like all the choices you have, but...

Ooh, cool name! Tossing ideas out there...
Ira David Keating
Gordon John Keating
Randall Silas Keating
Deborah Anne Keating
Rebecca Susan Keating
Thanks! I agree with what both of you said- Vaughn does suit the character better! I'll see if Cassidy works out as the last name- I think it's okay, but I'll keep looking in case something hits my...
