I am in Brazil, fyi, but here are some names I heard recently or heard from my friends. (I have friends with very odd names.)
Olivia (my baby sister who's 3, I call her Vivi and she calls me Lulu)
Heloisa (or perhaps Eloisa, not sure about the spelling)
Valentina (LOVE, will probably name my child that)
Arion (for both boys and girls)
Gabriel Seraphim (Seraphim is a last name here, but I think it looks pretty)
Nicolau (nn Nico)
Maitê (no idea how to transcribe the pronounciation)
Aqüila Mari (g)
Sofia (nn Sofi)
Sebastian (nn Seba)
Camila Canela (Canela is Cinnamon in portuguese, also a last name in this case)
Amanda Lucci (Lucci also a last name)
Victor Leonidas (Leonidas also a surname)
Yasmin (and her bf Lucca)
Also, my grandma is called Dilce, and her sisters are Dalva, Delza, Doris and Antonia. And my grandpa is called Amador (he's Spanish). And my mum is called Luscila which is very different, esp. due to spelling? If any of them sound common to you, trust me, most of them aren't around here. (I could also make a list of names that are common here but aren't elsewhere if anyone's interested.
My daughter and I met a little Fabia at a play group today. I think that is precious!
In the past year I have met two girls under 5 named Agnes, and little boys named Macabee, Wallace and Gerald.
There are also some very cute sibsets in the neighborhood where I work:
Fiona and Eleanor
Ruby, Willa and Scarlett
Celia and Eliza
Phoebe and Alice
Isaac, Roman, and Matilda
Sebastian, Gianna and Tomas
Isabel, Miles and Amelie
I've also come across the following sibsets in magazines:
Archer, Fable, and twins Reverie and Boheme (WOW)
Everett, Monroe (nicknamed Roey) and Truman
A grandmother on Wheel of Fortune yesterday mentioned her two granddaughters, Shea and Quinn.
I encountered a young woman named Pebbles.
Long list of kids from mom group & random playground meetings
Sebastian nn Bash
Alina (like Elena, but spelled this way)
Aria- a friend's newborn
Antoine just had a new child join his class at daycare: Townsend. I suppose his parents want him to be a chauffeur in B movies, because the line "fetch the car, Townsend" is just begging to be spoken.
A few years back, a family was visiting our church. They dropped their 1 year-old boy in the nursery. His name was Law. Years later, I still can't decide if the parents are brilliant or ridiculous.
Law is interesting. I wonder if it was a family name or something.
My sister got her senior yearbook and there were people named Jhayr, Stosh (not Josh I'm 100% sure), and Mystikal... dear god. It's a sad day when Mystikal is the best name on a list.
