Ira. Why and why not?
Ira is my latest guilty pleasure for a boy, thanks to a Berry naming her new son Ira Theodore. I'm very certain that my boyfriend would say no, but I'd like to get everyone's thoughts on this name anyway.
Ezra is one of my all time favorite boy names. But my uncle just named his daughter Ezri so I can't use it anymore. I was SO crushed. Ira seems like a good alternative to Ezra... Ezra is in the top 200 if I'm not mistaken, and Asa is in the top 600, so why not Ira? It seems like a solid vintage choice to me.
So how do you feel about Ira? Does it have potential or not? Is it "too" vintage/dated?
I think it's a nice name and I don't consider it dated. I've never met a male Ira before (which is how I decide if I consider it dated lol), although I have met a female Ira. I'll admit that when I first saw Ira I thought of two acronyms, but I don't think that would cause any problems.
Sounds like a tax accountant...Ira is probably a great student, but maybe not the coolest kid in the class. I'd stick it in the mid-spot. Ariston/Ari?
I like it, I think it could definitely work today!
I think Ira is cool!
Association with the cute children's book "Ira Sleeps Over"
Similarity to Ezra, Ari
reminiscent of "Roth IRA" and other retirement investment lingo
Maybe just don't name him Ross Ira? :)
