My husband and I are currently trying to conceive our first baby. My husband is of Italian background and we're considering using Italian names for our children, but I really need to expand my list! Some Italian boys names I really love are:
Can you help me add to my list? What are your favourite Italian boys names? Thanks in advance :)
Aurelio- Not sure how I feel about this one...Perhaps nickname Leo though?
Marcello-I prefer Marcel
Marco-Like the name bad connotations for me..
Here is some more suggestions
Angelo nn Ang?
Antonino Love this one!
Domenico I am in love with this name...not only do I love the nickname Dom, but can also get my favorite Nico from this!
Donatello-Maybe too connected with the Turtles?
Francesco Nn Franco!
Geovani Love Geovani, nn Geo or even Gino!
Ignacio My boss named his son this and his Grandpa calls him Nacho...
Leo Another favorite, and love all the ways of getting Leo here
Napoleon Nn Leon?
Salvatore Love nn Sal
Sabastiano Seb? Bastian? Bash?
Thanks for the suggestions, guys.
@mkmlvr - I really like Leo, Leonardo and Nico, as well as your suggestion of Leo as a nickname for Aurelio, which I hadn't thought of before! I rather like Angelo, but it's out because it's my husband's cousin's name. My husband's middle name is Salvatore, which I really dislike!
@ottilie - I'm loving Alessandro, Orlando and Valentino. Interesting you suggested both Umberto, Gianluca and Andrea. We have a good friend named Umberto whose baby son is Gianluca Andrea!
Honestly, there's only a handful of Italian names I like enough to name my child, so I don't know if we'll end up going down that path. That said, I know Marco is one of my husband's favourites, so we'll see!
I have no extent of knowledge that ottilie and mkmlvr do, but I've always adored the name Amedeo, and it's been my favorite boys' name since I could remember. I also love Galileo (nn Leo, as in the European Léo). mrkmlvr already mentioned Leonardo, another one of my favorites, and Nico.
I LOVE the name Vin for a boy. Maybe it's a bit overused and Jersey sounding, but I knew a really wonderful Italian guy named Vin and it has stuck with me.
