I pronounce it eyes-lah, but I've heard it pronounced eye-lah before. I'm British if that is of any relevance.
I'm pretty sure it's pronounced eye-lah. Like island or isle.
Thanks aj_bear and cassandrah! I had been pronouncing it as eye-lah in my mind like island or isle, but just wanted to make certain that I wasn't totally off base.
I'm almost positive that the 's' in Isla is silent.
It's a Scottish name pronounced 'eye-la'. :)
Eye-la :) It was one of the names we had if Everett had been a girl.
I agree with pretty much everyone else. The "s" is silent, like aisle or island. EYE-luh.
My first language is spanish and since isla is the spanish word for island I say it as I would say that word which is ees-lah I hope the explanation for the pronounciation makes sense
